thanks for the info. One more question:

How would you reccomend fixing shorts?

use a desolder braid to get rid of the solder that is causing the short, my friend smile.gif

I don't know how well a braid can get in those little spaces between pins.

Lay the solder braid across a row of pins, heat up the solder wick at one end and gradully pull up on the braid as you move the iron down the braid.  It absorbs the excess solder.

Be careful!
1. You do not want to heat it up too long in one spot, for it will cook the pads right the PCB.
2. You do not want to pull to soon or too late, having the solder cool down and have the pads be soldered to the braid.

In the beginning of this post, I mention another guide. It describes this procedure in detail.

People have been sending me PM's, requesting me to order more memory chips.

If you are interested in set a of memory chips for your box, just reply to this thread.

Include the following information.

1. Best way to contact you.
2. Number of memory sets you want to purchase. (4 chips per set)
3. Whether you would like someone to install them for you.  Extra fee of course.

If there is enough demand, I will look into ordering another large quanity of memory chips from Samsung.

well my experience has been that using your soldering iron by itself to move around solder has worked pretty well, i'm sure its not very difficult.
BTW i'm interested how much for a set of 4? (would be nice to play some 007 goldeneye on my xbox wink.gif)
PLZ GET THEM!

I would like to upgrade my MOBO to 128mb.  I would like the chips installed.  I would ship MOBO for this.  I would like to be able to play retail games after upgrade.

The previous lot of memory chips went for $30 a set, plus $5 US shipping or $9 outside of the US.

If I order another lot, it may or may not be the same price.

The extra 64 meg of memory does nothing for Retail Games.
Better read this thread.

Read it, thanks.

I want it for Linux, but I still want to play retail games with chip disabled, and backups from DVD and HDD with chip enabled.  I saw that I have to edit xbes to recognize 128mb ram.

If you get more I'll take one set and do the install myself.
