1. Was the file Read-Only? On a side note, I may add ONERROR to the next release, which will allow you to handle the situation better and MXM aborting the script.

2. Perhaps... I'll make a note to investigate the option.

3. That's because the original files were read-only. Evo-X does the same thing, actually. There is an "attr" command that should work easier, BTW, as it works on nested levels.

4. Possibly because MXM is using a file from C: when it attempts this?

1. No the files are not read only, I have checked this, besides, Slayers Installer DIsk, using EvoX does this routinely, and it works everytime..

2. No further comments, just would be easier to overwrite things when copying from disk. Not that nig of a deal, but also makes for a much legthier script..

3. This is not a big deal either, as it is only one or two files here and there I must do this to.

4.I was using  _PROMPTFORMAT C: as an example,  _PROMPTFORMAT was used for other drives as well. JLM was running an ALPHA version of my Dash Installer Disk, for the Xbox Installer Disk System, and like I said, it only formatted the drives for him I think a couple times, other times it would not format the selected drives, but run perfect. This was all running from a disk as I said, so I do not see how it was using any files from the XBox itself.

Hey there. I live in US. I've tried both copies. Downloaded PAL copy, works on non mxm boxes. I rented the NTSC copy. Works on non mxm boxes. Very strange :-(
Damn, I wish I was better at graphic arts. I want to see some nice skins for your dashboard. There are some, but there could be SO many more good ones. So much to work with :-)
Just thought I'd add that more info so that you knew I was trying both PAL *and* NTSC

David

Yes, but the "Cherry Patch" is installed regardless.... I have corrected that here, and it will no longer patch the BIOS in the release version, if you are not using the PAL/NTSC switching.

I have no PAL - NTSC switching... Or, I'm not understanding you or you me. :-)
I have only used NTSC xboxs. Can't get a store rented/bought copy <NTSC> to work on any xbox that has the MXM dashboard on it. It freezes at exactly the same spot on each box. Unless I change the dashboard to EvoX or UnleashX.
Even when I was using a PAL copy that I was trying to use as my backup that I aquired.
The game just doesn't work with MXM.

So, are you saying that you have now corrected this issue and in a new release it will fix this?
Sorry for not understanding how we're wording things to each other.

:-)

I'm saying that the current version of MXM applies a (temporary) patch to the BIOS, regardless of what your TV setting is. The purpose of this patch is to modify the PAL/NTSC settings, but since you do not need it, it shouldn't NEED to apply the patch. It wasn't hurting anything before, but it's probably the cause of your problems with this game (I can't imagine anything else causing problems)

The next release will ONLY apply the patch if it needs to.

Yet more FTP stuff....

This is not with the WIUP, but with your release....

If loaded after a hacked BIOS (through PBL, TSOP, Chip) it seems fine.

But when loaded with a retail BIOS running (Directly from the fonts or audio) it sometimes behaves the same way as the previous version did! Wierd folders/files showing up. Failed transfers, lockups....

Wierd stuff!

Don't know if it helps at all, but thought I would pass it on!

QUOTE (digitalcaptive @ Dec 17 2003, 08:22 AM)
Hi, NEWBIE here

I downloaded CRAXION and MXM. I created a multi-disc dvd-r for GTA3/GTAvc using CRAXION. I installed MXM on my system as a seperate program to be run from the EVOX dashboard, not as the dashboard. I can not get the game to automatically load when I pop in the DVD-R, however, I can play the games when I go to boxplorer and click on each of the game's default.xbe files?

What have I done wrong and how can I get the DVD-R to automatically start when i pop it into the xbox?

I read the MXM tutorial, and it said I should have a file structure similar to this on my dvd-r:

default.xbe
mxm.xml
Media (not required for versions 0.9f and greater)
DefaultSkin
DNFOREVER
H2
MAME
SPCINVADER3D

But I didn't get that .... by using CRAXION, I got something like:

game1
game2
MenuX, where within MenuX I have two subdirectories media, sshot, and a menu.xdi file

Is this why I am having problems? I can't figure it out. Somebody HELP, it would be very much appreciated!.

Thanks

This is really a Craxtion problem, isn't it?

Try posting in the Craxtio thread (pinned under this one) and shooting LePpPeR a PM as well.

QUOTE (deflux @ Dec 17 2003, 12:16 PM)
Question, when I load a multidisk onto a friends box who uses mxm as his dash as well, it takes over his dash settings when he reboots(no disk in), and puts him back into the network settings that were on my disk, changes his xbox name and everything

but the problem is when he goes into his mxm.xml it still has his old settings.... any ideas?

Hmmm... well, this is because it booted with the settings you've placed into the MXM.xml file on your DVD-R. Normally, you only do that for a "boot disk" that's needed to run an FTP Server.

The settings he has in his file may not be correct.

BTW: Thanks for the tip... I am also hoping to pay special attention to DVD-R compilations for the next release - and I appreciate the reminder about handling the multi-game discs and games DB. I'll have plenty to do over the break  blink.gif

I'm having Ftp problems. One ofthe directory isn't accessible using Fxp, but all other directories work. The one that doesn't work is a game directory. The weird thing is that the game works perfectly fine, but I can't ftp into it. The directoy is accessible when I use Evox to ftp. Can someone tell me what's wrong.

Is it possible you have a preview video in that directory? What exactly are you trying to do in the directory?

I've talked to X2Gamer, and the problem is that MXM's ftp server refuses to go into a directory.  Says the directory doesn't exist, even though it shows up in the list.

Evox's FTP server works fine.

X2Gamer, can you provide more details, like attributes, and the ftp logs for both evox and mxm?

Well I'm not sure how to get the ftp logs from Mxm or EvoX, but the folder I'm trying to access is the game Rainbow 6. I can get into all other folders, but this one. It is the biggest folder on my HD and i still have a stock HD. The game is playable and all ,but I wanted to put a preview video in there, but it won't let me. As I said before I can access it using EvoX. My network sttings at the moment are FTP Prority at Above normal and Sychonize time using server="no" and Time hour offset="0". I've tried moving the folder using Evox and then trying to access it using Mxm but it still doesn't work.

OK.... that's a simple enough problem, and I can probably fix it.... though I'll need to fiddle around with it.

The problem is the space in the directory name. MXM is only looking at "rainbow" then "6" - so it sees two arguments there, instead of one unquoted argument. The client really should quote the argument  dry.gif but the spec is probably ambiguous about the point.

I'll have to treat the situation specially.

Thank you.... it gives me a bit of work to do tonight, but at least it WILL be fixed for the next release!
