Current 'requested features':

  • BIOS flashing (Already planned on)
  • FTP Client, instead of just server
  • Save Game Manager
  • Directly handle downloading save games from xboxsaves.com.
  • File explorer/management
  • Screen Calibration - Great idea IMO
  • Scroll through list
  • General Transparency level
  • Random skin based on XML file (list).

    Other features I consider important to add:

  • Audio Cd Ripping
  • Software BIOS selection for Chameleon and X2s
  • Limited form of web browsing
  • POP3 Notification (perhaps e-mail download)
  • IM client of sorts
  • 3-D elements for skinners

    I'd like to finalize this list. Please continue making requests in the Request thread, but here, list those features you consider most important.

    I'm only one person.... I hope to bring a couple more people into the effort to wrap up MXM to a 1.0 'official' release.

    What happens then? My involvement will shift into low gear. Hopefully, by that time, I will have several people willing to take over and continue enhancements, but ideally, MXM will deliver all that a dashboard actually needs to do, barring a few minor things.

    I have a lot of other things I'd like to get to working on.... incuding a wrap up of X-Marbles (music, sound, network play), and a decent framework for Xbox games)

    DONE, or RESOLVED:
  • "Safe Mode" operation (DONE)
  • Partition formatting (DONE)
  • FTP support for leechftp, Xfer and XBE renamer (DONE)
  • Alpha sorting (DONE)
  • Skin switching (DONE)
  • DVD-R entries or inserted games will be able to be installed to the HD (ActionScripting can do this)
  • Games on the HD will have an 'uninstall' option available (ActionScripting can do this).
  • RSS Newsfeeds assignable as strings. Headlines would appear in a cycling string. (DONE)
  • SITE reboot (DONE)
  • SITE shutdown (DONE)
  • Auto-add sorting (DONE)
  • Skinnable system menus (LIMITED: Skins can choose colors)
  • Master switch for sounds/music (DONE)

    These are the things I want most:
  • Scroll through list
  • Alpha sorting

    These would be an added bonus:
  • SITE reboot
  • SITE shutdown
  • Software BIOS selection for Chameleon and X2s
  • Save Game Manager

    I like the idea of ripping games directly from the dash, and being able to rename xbes.

    Features I consider important (or at least nifty) (*=on my personal wishlist)

    *# File explorer/management
    # BIOS flashing (Already planned on)
    *# FTP support for leechftp, Xfer and XBE renamer
    *# DVD-R entries or inserted games will be able to be installed to the HD (Game ripper - being worked on)
    *# Games on the HD will have an 'uninstall' option available (preferences to disable, though).
    *# Save Game Manager
    *# Directly handle downloading save games from xboxsaves.com.
    # Screen Calibration - Great idea IMO
    *# Audio Cd Ripping
    # "Safe Mode" operation
    # POP3 Notification (perhaps e-mail download)

    Features I consider unimportant

    # FTP Client, instead of just server
    # RSS Newsfeeds assignable as strings. Headlines would appear in a cycling string. (Implimented for 0.9n, still needs polish)
    (^I actually really dig this one, but I think it's superflous for a dash)
    # Scroll through list
    # Skinnable system menus (probably will not happen)
    # General Transparency level
    # Random skin based on XML file (list).
    # Partition formatting
    # Software BIOS selection for Chameleon and X2s (but I can see why it is important)
    # Limited form of web browsing
    # IM client of sorts
    # 3-D elements for skinners

    Features I haven't seen mentioned yet

    #Soundtrack selection directly from System menu when global is set
    #emulator rom menu integration (what a headache when the rom directories have 4000 roms in them)

    I've left out the ones that are already implemented in a WIP release.

    The thought of your departure, BJ, sheds a tear to my eye.  *sniff*  sad.gif

    Another 6 months or so with you in cockpit?

    Well, I'd be around... just hopefully not spending every waking minute on this thing wink.gif

    I could also spend a bit of time making skins and scripts....

    This I'd really like to see in MXM 1.0

    * Alpha sorting (Implimented for 0.9n)
    * BIOS flashing (Already planned on)
    * FTP support for leechftp, Xfer and XBE renamer
    * Skin switching (Implimented for 0.9n)
    * FTP Client, instead of just server
    * DVD-R entries or inserted games will be able to be installed to the HD (Game ripper - being worked on)
    * Partition formatting
    * Save Game Manager
    * File explorer/management
    * Screen Calibration - Great idea IMO
    * Scroll through list  (from z back to a)
    * Auto-add sorting (Implimented for 0.9n)

    Things I don't really care about (or don't know what they mean):

    * General Transparency level
    * Master switch for sounds/music (Implimented for 0.9n)
    * Other features I consider important to add:
    * Audio Cd Ripping
    * "Safe Mode" operation
    * Software BIOS selection for Chameleon and X2s
    * Limited form of web browsing
    * POP3 Notification (perhaps e-mail download)
    * IM client of sorts
    * 3-D elements for skinners

    But remember: even when no other version of MXM would appear, I'm still damn happy with this amazing dashboard   wink.gif

    I still am on evox cause i'm comfortable with it, stability, etc.... anyway if your 1.0 release takes what you have now .9m and adds the following I'll be switching :
    (cause i err on the side of safety but i'm dyin to use those features):

    * Alpha sorting (Implimented for 0.9n)
    * BIOS flashing (Already planned on)
    * Skin switching (Implimented for 0.9n)
    * FTP Client, instead of just server
    * File explorer/management
    * Screen Calibration - Great idea IMO   Awesome idea
    * Auto-add sorting (Implimented for 0.9n)

    With those things added to what you currently have I see myself running MXM for a long time to come...

    I vote for storing the ftp passwords as an MD5 hash in the xml.

    Should be one of the more easy things to implement.

    Great job so far.  We all appreciate it.

    the whole thing sounds really awesome
    when this can do half of what you intend on having it do it will already be the most widely used dash

    I think that although MXM does a bunch of other great things, what draws a lot of people is the great skinning options. So, personally the feature I'm looking forward to the most is 3d skinning. I've already had many ideas I'd like to try out with this.

    besides those in the works and those you intend to include

    + in-client upgrades would be nice. I would assume that would be a hosting issue though.
