Replacement Dvd Remotes $5.00
« on: May 02, 2003, 02:47:00 PM »

The problem with the official Xbox DVD remote and the third-party remotes is that they control ONLY the Xbox.  Here's a remote that will control your Xbox, and TV funtions like volume/mute and channel up/down.  100% key-for-key compatible with your existing dongle, no programming necessary.

Also, the remote has additional buttons that work great in Xbox Media Player!  Channel Up / Channel Down skip to the next/previous song in your playlist.

Used, but look and work like new.  This is for the remote only!  You still need your original IR sensor!

$5.00 each.  Priority Mail shipping will be $3.50 in the U.S.  Media Mail shipping might be cheaper, about $2.00.

Oooh, that would be nice.  But no sad.gif the power button acts the same as the "Display" button on the Xbox remote (i.e. for visualizations in XBMP)

For those that don't know the DVD remote (and dongle) use RCA codes, and is likely manufactured by them or by the same people who manufacture RCA remotes, this GE remote is similar to the RCA remote, and is again likely manufactured by the same people. Some RCA remotes will work with the DVD dongle without any modification, as the one posted here does.

If you have a universal remote you can try programming your DVD/VCR button to an RCA code, it will likely work if it is a newer remote. My son has a Scientific Atlanta converter and the remote that controls that can also control the Xbox DVD after it is programmed to the RCA code, and of course controls the TV, and the converter.

Well said, PM5K biggrin.gif

The Xbox remote is based on RCA DVD player codes.  So any RCA (or GE, like this one) dvd remote will work without needing to do anything.  Or you can program a universal remote with RCA DVD player codes, and that will work as well.
