Def's the best... always amazes me how fast he gets them out the door.  Priority mail usually takes 2-3 days depending on your location.

If anyone knows where I can buy a programmer for bare chips at a reasoable price let me know.  Is what I am looking for called an eeprom programmer?  I want to remove the chip from the socket to program it.  Any advice?

I think this is what you're looking for:
Green Giant LPC Programmer

Simple question for everyone.  I have a Flashed cheapmod working great with pin header installation.  If I do the swap method with a new unflashed chip and after booting into the dungeonx/slayers auto installer cd.  Can I install BIOS if it resides on the CD and HD?

sha, you sound like u have a similar setup as i do. you can check out the pictures i posted on the first page. just install evox w/ the bios u want on the HD. boot into it with the working chip, then hot swap it with a blank chip. the blank chip does not even need to have female headers. just connect it over the male headers and tilt the chip so there is contact. then flash the chip through evox.

Thanks DEF you are the man.  I have almost every BIOS out there what one works best with cheapmods.  Just curious from the group of mass buyers/installers.

Ya same here  i just ordered and have been downed a lot of 256k bioes ( I assume that the sst chips is 256K only). Now The ozxflash bios cd that i have is for a 256k Executer 4974 and Evox D6. I compared the bios release table and the Executer 4976.02 has only 1 extra ferature as compared to EvoxD6 and the 4974 appears to have the same features as the evoxD6. I see screen shots of Evox but never saw screen shots of the executer bios screens.  I may have got all of this wrong but hey my designation is still a newb  jester.gif  uhh.gif

I received my mod from Def today (FAST shipping) except I did a stupid thing when I ordered it-more of an oversite on my part, but I want to make something clear to anyone else that might be a similar situation:
When you buy it unassembled, Def does _NOT_ program the flash.
I wasn't totally thinking and I purchased it unassembled, with the intent of using it to repair the Xbox I killed the flash on, except I have no way to program it.  I'm debating between building a CheapLPC, or buying another cheapMod (assembled this time)
When I was ordered, I was thinking Def programed them in a flash programmer-I now know he uses an Xbox to do it.
Please understand-I'm NOT blaming Def, I'm happy with what I got-I made a mistake-it's my fault.  I'm just trying to help someone else from making the same mistake I did.
