Dvd-r's ?
« on: February 20, 2003, 08:23:00 PM »

anyone know a GOOD fast cheap place to purchase dvd-r's ?

I know a place that does 50 for 46$   but they only burn in 1x in my sony dru500 (which is 4x)

So anyone know of 50 for 50$ (hopefully shipped) that at least burn in 2x and reads in xbox ?
I live in oregon so anywhere close would be great.

THANK YOU in advance!

this is true.  2x is great for me.. I would hate to see what the prices are for 4x media.

THANK YOU for all the replies.

www.allmediaoutlet.com has both the 1x/2x Ritek silver tops for $1.24 a disc or less (I ordered from them on Friday and yes they actually have them instock). The 4x discs are a little over $2 a disc with shipping. By the way for those of you who are interested Officemax has the high quality 4x fujifilm DVD-R discs on sale this week a 10 pack for $25. I have been using them for movies and they play perfectly in my V1.0 xbox with a philips dvd drive, my V30001R PS2, a Version 3 PS2 and a couple of other players that I have tried as well.  The extra $ are worth it if you want a 4x disc that works well.

I like verbatim.  I have conlcusive evidnece that they burn better at 2x than 1x that makes me happier than you can imagine.  That might only be true with the A05 but thats what I got, and I'm a happy camper.  You can get them on Ebay for $2 each.

I called officemax and they said they were not 4x compatible.  I don't know if I should trust you or someone making $7 at officemax.

Hmm, I haven't actually used them for games yet, but the last 5 dvd movies that I have made definitely burned at 4x.  It burned a movie that was about an 1 hour and a half in about 25 minutes.  If the disc couldn't support a 4x burn then why did it burn this fast and why do they play perfectly.

Thanks for all the posts guys!

I know what you guys are talking about ..with some not knowing if they are 4x or what their speeds are for that matter...

I have been going here...
DVD-r  seller

they were ok 50 for 46$ ..50$ with shipping..BUT they are 1x...

Then I came across someone that said theirs burns at 2x and are also 50 for 50$.
this is a GREAT deal I believe...

Here's the thing.. long story short.. one guy went to get them from I believe COMP USA or something.. like that..
and the people behind the counter INSISTS they were 1x ONLY..   now these dvd-r's don't have any writing on them.. and I wanted to ask them how in the hell they know??  Do they have a dvd burner .. NO..

Anyway YES they do burn at 2x and they work GREAT.
if I only knew what they were.. I will post when I find out..

Anyway.. DON't trust 7$ /hr workers at these stores .. unless they own a burner!
