After repeated attempts to contact them I have filed a complaint with paypal regarding this seller.  Please take caution in doing business with them as it is not worth the little bit cheaper price or the headache.  Hopefully I can stop someone else from making the same mistake.

This went off to the never never yesterday, but anyway ...

Order 1426 went in last week. Accepted via Paypal, money withdrawn from account - so "someone" has record of the transaction.

Trying to contact chipdealer, but unable to reach website .... weird.

All I want is my X3 sad.gif

mad.gif

I ordered 5 X3 chips on Oct 9th, 2004
Amount:  $282.50 USD through Paypal.
Order 1338

I have not received a tracking# and scheduling a local pickup keeps getting delayed day after day after day.  First I was supposed to pick it up along with a  larger bulk order Sat Oct 16th, then they pushed it to Monday, then Tuesday, then Wed, then Thurs.....

I would just like my money back NOW for the 5 X3 mad.gif
I've asked several times now for this refund but have yet to receive my money back.

I will edit my review accordingly once I receive the refund for the 5 X3 of $282.50 USD

Order 1338

-----------------
Update: I received my refund shortly after posting this negative feedback.  It's unfortunate though since I lost over $20 due to the USD dropping in value from the time they took my money on Oct 9th.  To the time I fnally got my refund Oct 21st.

It looks like the only basis for Team Xecuter giving out official xecuter reseller status is buying power.  If a reseller can fork over enough money to purchase 3000-5000 chips per month, that's good enough for them.  Dependable customer service is clearly not a criteria where Chipdealer is concerned.

update 10/27 - i recieved the credit to my visa today from CONSOLES INTERNATIONAL; it would be interesting to find if they have used other dba names in the past. today marks 3 weeks since my order and it was simply wasted time. now i will do some research to find a better mod-CHIPDEALER.

10/24 - rec'd email from [email protected] notifying me that my credit card had been refunded, but i will not know if this is true for a few more days. bottom line is that the emails i received were far from upfront and professional. do not trust this seller! their claim of fast free shipping is bogus!!

----------------------------------------------------------------
chip order #1193
two xecuter3 chips
credit card was charged $120.25 on 10/6/04

summary - it has been 10 days since my chip was supposedly going to be sent from san marcos, california(i live in same state). unfortunately, i am less than satisfied and it looks like i have been ripped off, but if i get a response from them here in the forums and everything works out in the end, i am willing to be wrong!!! i have been ripped off before, but you can bet i will not be this time.

here are the only emails i have received... if chipdealer.com is serious, they would not send out mass bcc emails to begin with and they would reply with honesty instead of this bs. i have sent another email since, but nothing else has been received except the original email indicating my order and visa charge.

i guess i was in too much of a hurry when i replied yesterday morning. i could have included my order #1193, but i was trying to get out of the house for an overnight trip as well as surprised and concerned by your email since my order was for $120.

in any event, seems to me like your reply could have said: "if you did pay, then none of this info is needed because your chip is already on the way." however, i assume that must not be the case.

i request a reply by monday evening to let me know the status my order #1193.

Please respond ASAP with:
* The order number (If you have no receipt it was the payment description…)
* Method of Payment (Paypal or Linkpoint)
* Transaction number on the merchent
* Your shipping address for the two Xecuter 3 chips

It’s very possible you ordered once just to check prices or anything, and then ordered again and this time went through with the payment.

In any case, if you did pay and you respond quickly then your order will be out today. It may have already been shipped to you but I need more information such as the order number.

Thanks,

Joshua

my credit card was charged by you 3 days ago for 2 xecuter3 chips @ $120.25 total so you must be mistaken(the transaction number according to my credit card is #xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx). however, i also have not received a shipping email yet so there must be some reason why. the 5% discount would be cool, but the chips delivered to my door would be cooler. today is saturday and as you already mentioned, it is a holiday weekend, i hope you can figure this out and send my chips today. 6 days after an order is placed(tuesday) is a not what i consider fast shipping; even if it is free. please respond today and let me know when i can expect my order or i will be inclined to contact my credit card company and take action to chargeback the order.

hope this helps you figure it out-

Hi, recently you have tried to order on ChipDealer.com.

It looks like your order may not have gone through successful. If you have ordered successfully since then, this e-mail isn’t for you. If you were having problems, let us know and we’ll be happy to help you.

The reason I’m writing to you is because we are having a huge sale for Columbus Day and want your business. Right now, we are giving 5% off your entire order when you enter “Columbus” as a coupon. We’d like to remind you that Xecuter 3 has free shipping and our prices are always low.

We are accepting PayPal until Monday. On Monday, we will start accepting both PayPal and Credit Cards using LinkPoint.

Feel free to check out our site and don’t worry, we are only e-mailing you to check on why your order was unauthorized. There are no lists and you won’t be contacted again unless you respond or place an order.

Thank you!

Joshua

Placed order #1899 for one Xecuter3 on around 12:30PM on  10/18/2004.  I went with ground shipping.  Paid via PayPal (verified address).  I never received a confirmation email from chipdealer.  Over the last two days I have sent emails to address on the website and the paypal address and have yet to receive a response.  Jumped into their channel on IRC and left RoT a message this evening.  Hopefully he will response.  At the very latest I would expect to receive my order this coming Monday so I am not panicking yet.  I will post another update when I have one.

Placed my order on 10/15 (#1761)...received it 7 days later via postal service 1st class on 10/22. Sent 3-4 emails to all of their email addresses during that time regarding shipping status since I didn't receive a receipt (other than paypal). I received the first response on Saturday 10/23.

Unfortunately, the package was missing the pin header and now I'm waiting for another response as to how to go about resolving this. mad.gif

I definitely don't think this was worth saving a couple bucks.

I will update my post to let you know how the service is regarding the replacement part.

so here's my log of my chat with Modiller regarding my missing pinheader with my X3.

<Modiller`> you can buy pinheaders
<Modiller`> if its that big of a deal
<Modiller`> or do wire install
<zerokills> the pinheader is supposed to come with it though and I really don't want to do wire install
<Modiller`> well then tell RoTt
<Modiller`> you'll prob have to end up sending the whole thing back
<Modiller`> shipping alone will be more then how much a pinheader costs lol
<Modiller`> there like 50 cents
<zerokills> oh...just thought you were with chipdealer.com
<Modiller`> i am
<Modiller`> but im saying
<Modiller`> you'll probably have to send the whole thing back
<Modiller`> PM RoT
<Modiller`> and let him know
<zerokills> where can I get one then...if they're only .50
<Modiller`> radio shack
<Modiller`> count the lpc holes and get one that size
<zerokills> hmm...somethin new everyday.
<Modiller`> ok then PM RoT
<Modiller`> and tell him
<Modiller`> i dont know what you expect me to do..
<zerokills> I'll check my local radio shack and go from there

As you can see, it seems they really don't care. Another user told me they took his paypal payment and then banned him from #chipdealer

I ordered an X3 on Oct 2nd and received a "Thank you for your order" email the same day. Several days pasted and didn't get anything confirming shipment of order. Had to catch one of their guys on the online support chat on the website, said it had been shipped a few days earlier. Time pasted and still nothing. Sent couple more emails and finally got a reply from Josh reconfirming it was shipped. Recieved my chip on Oct 21.

In the end I did recieve my chip, but I wasn't too thrilled with the lack of reply to order status emails and the length of time it took to get here (nearly 3 weeks seems a little long, even for Canada).

My advice....let the buyer beware.

PayPal finds Chipdealer at fault

The following is my experience with Chipdealer.com.  I am writing this simply to share with others my experience.  I will attempt to be as objective as possible and let you draw your own conclusions as to what kind of company chipdealer is.  If you are reading this you have probably read other posts in the forum and have a good overall idea of other people's thoughts/experiences in the matter:

Like a lot of people here, I was eagerly awaiting the release of the Xecuter3.  I did not pre-order my chip because I was unsure yet of the no-solder options.  Finally, after the installation tutorials had been released I decided I could solder my own chip, as I have (limited) experience soldering in the past.

So, I went to teamxecuter.com to look at the authorized list of dealers.  I went through the top few and came to Chipdealer.  It appeared to be a good deal at $59 with FREE FAST SHIPPING.  So, on Sunday, 10/9/04 I placed my order.  I received a confirmation e-mail shortly stating:

"We will be in touch as soon as possible about your order, the details of which are as follows:"

The e-mail listed my cost:  $59 for the chip and $2.25 for "handling."  No information about when my item would be shipped was available, and I assumed by the wording of the statement above, that I would be notified soon.

Now, in my opinion (and yours may differ), when you order an item that is supposed to have FAST SHIPPING, the following should be true:  It should SHIP (as in leave the seller) within 48 hours and be shipped using a 2-3 day shipping method.  This means that in the worst case scenario (with weekends included) you should have your item within 5 days.

Ordering my item on Sunday afternoon 10/9, I expected to have my item by the following Friday.

On Monday (10/11) evening I still had no new contact from the seller about shipment.  I decided to e-mail them asking for an update.

I received an automated response saying:

"Hi and thank you for e-mailing ChipDealer.com. We have got your e-mail and you should have a response within 24 hours."

Needless to say by Tuesday night (10/12) , I had no response.  I went onto their web site to try their "new support system" and sent a message through there asking for status.  I received the following e-mail:

"This is an automated response to inform you that your question has been received, and added to our system."

As of today, 10/27, this message is still unanswered.
By Wednesday (10/13), my item should have already left the seller and have been on it's way.  But I found this was not the case...

I finally made it on to IRC #Chipdealer.  I am an IRC user, but I find it absolutely ridiculous for a company to require the installation and learning of a piece of software just to get answers as to the status of an order.  I should have not had to go to these lengths to talk to someone...but I did.

I spoke with RoT who told me (in summation):
1) That they had PayPal issues
2) That they had inventory problems
3) That my item was shipping very shortly (as in ready to go today)

I asked RoT if he wouldn't mind changing my shipping address to reflect my home address rather than work, since I would not be at work on Sat (no deliveries) and if the chip was shipping 2-3-day on Thursday then it should arrive by Saturday My conversation with RoT was harrowing, because he was obviously busy doing other things (?) but every response from him took 10+ minutes to receive and the conversation stopped and started several times throughout the day.  He then said he needed to go, and that I should message (/msg) him instructions on what to do.

So I left notification for him to change the shipping address to my home, as well as left my e-mail address to contact me if he had any problems and/if he was able to accomplish this.

I never got a response.

On Friday I went onto #Chipdealer again.  Messaged RoT and was told that the item shipped yesterday (10/14).  I asked him where he shipped it and he said to my work address!

"Damn."  I said, upset that he had not changed it to my home address (note: although I was upset, I do not entirely fault them for this, as they shouldn't be expected to have to change an address after an order was placed.  However, because of their delays I felt they could/should do it on good faith).

"What's wrong?" he answered, "We can change it"

Now HOW? I ask you could he change the shipping address if the item was already shipped?  I began to get very very suspicious.  When I confronted him with this question I didn't get a response for several minutes, I then needed to sign off to get back to work.  So I was still mystified by his statement.

However, upon arriving home from work Friday (10/15) I did have an e-mail from PayPal stating that there was shipment information posted to USPS.  I was slightly relieved.  However when checking out the tracking number that was sent me, all the USPS site returned to me was something along the following lines:

"The seller has notified us that we will be receiving a shipment"

I lost the exact wording, but basically it infered that USPS did not necessarily receive a shipment.  They were simply notified that a shipment would be on its way to them.  (My assumption is if you use their online system you can enter in a shipment order and say it is on it's way).

Lets skip through the weekend, as obviously I wasn't getting the chip on Friday.  Come Monday afternoon (10/18) I still had not received the chip.  This is now 9 days after my order with FAST SHIPPING.

By Tuesday (10/19), no chip.  This is 5 days after I was told the item shipped (4 not counting Sunday...no mail).

I decided to have another talk with RoT, so I went onto #Chipdealer.  I was obviously a little peeved so I asked him straight-forward, but politely, how Chipdealer can promise the shipping they do when they clearly cannot comply?  I asked him how, even with the alleged problems they had (mentioned above), they can have such shoddy customer communication?

RoT gave some more excuses.  He said the item was shipped 2 day and I will have it. (note: there is no such thing as 2-day USPS, priority mail is 2-3 days).  At this point, just telling me the item was shipped and I would receive it was not going to placate me.

Then RoT tried to appease me.  He apologized (again) and offered perhaps he can send me a free skin, or half-off my next chip.  Now I admit that those seem to be nice gestures, but honestly, why would I want to continue to do any business with a company that treated their customers with such disregard?  I let him know this.

I told RoT that unless I received the item by tomorrow (10/20...11 days after ordering with FAST SHIPPING) that I would have to refuse the order, contest the PayPal charges, post my experience on the forums, and report them to the BBB.

RoT's reply was along these lines:
1) That I was a WHINING BABY
2) That I got a GOOD DEAL cause they were giving FREE SHIPPING (remember I still paid $2.25 for "handling"...where was it "handled?"..never to me!) and that should make up for the fact that they are having problems and I haven't gotten my chip yet.
3) That FAST SHIPPING simply means the method they use to ship the item.  That it does not include how quickly the item leaves the seller (by that rational I can pay $20 for overnight shipping, and have them send it out 2 weeks later overnight?!?!).
4) That I don't need to refuse my package, because he was going to CANCEL DELIVERY (an empty threat, as you can't cancel a USPS parcel once it has been sent.  This only furthered my belief that the item never shipped).

Then what does RoT do?  He kicks me from #Chipdealer and bans me from entering the room again with the following message:

"Banned (Fu**ing Dips**t)"  - The asterisks are mine...he was not as polite.

So now, Wednesday 10/20 rolls around and guess what... NO CHIP!  Surprised?  I wasn't.

Here is a summary of what has happened since then:

- I went onto PayPal Wednesday and filed a dispute.
- I drove an two-hours (round trip) to see ModChipMan on Wednesday after work to pick up a chip from him for $59
- A package from Chipdealer finally reached my Office on Monday 10/25 and was REFUSED on my request (over 2 weeks after order was placed).
- PayPal notified me that they are refunding my money on Tuesday 10/26 with the following notes:

"We have determined that the seller is at fault...we will take appropriate action against the seller in this case. Actions may include issuing a warning, a temporary limitation, or terminating their account."

Now, I doubt Chipdealer will have their account terminated, or even suspended for this one infraction, but it just goes to show that PayPal is on my side and they note that Chipdealer behaved fraudulently.

Also, please note that the item finally reached my office approx. 3 days after I filed a complaint with PayPal.  That seems curious to me.  Perhaps Chipdealer did not actually ship my chip 2-day delivery until I actually filed a complaint over a week and a half after my order was placed?  This is just speculation, I will let you decide.

So what did I learn during this experience?  That Chipdealer, although you may eventually receive an ordered product from them, acts deceptively in their dealings with customers.

I would never do business with them again based on my experience and those of others I have read in the forums.

So where am I now?  After purchasing my chip from ModChipMan (good guys!) Wednesday night (10/20).  I struggled to solder it into my X-Box (boy those installation diagrams sure are magnified!).  Quite a few hours (and some FRAGs later) my chip is working.  My new 250GB drive is installed, my BIOS is updated and my dashboards are installed.  All this was done with the fine help of the information posted on these sites.

If you are a newbie, I highly recommend searching the forums, all the information IS there!  Also, if you have never soldered before, have someone do it for you.  Regardless of what a lot of these people say, it is more difficult then it appears.  Don't think your first soldering job can be to put an X3 in.  If you insist on doing it yourself, practice heavily on similar components (read: pin header).  However, for the price you would pay for some spare parts from RadioShack, you might as well pay someone to put it in!

Good luck to all and Caveat Emptor!

-b

P.S.  I'm done with Chipdealer and this ordeal.  I don't care if this is replied to in any positive or negative means. I simply provide it to the community as a report of my experience.  Any responses to this post will most likely go unanswered by me since I have already stated ALL the facts herein.

Order 1677

I sent them my xbox to have an X3 and a hdd installed.  Fedex says they got it last monday.  they said it would take a week to do and a day to ship (i am 30 miles away).  No one has returned my emails since they got my dough.  I can see it taking longer than they said but they could at least tell me they got my box.  Waiting till the weekend then i am going out there.

My Xbox arrived yesterday with a broken switch connector and without the case mod that I ordered.  I'm sending it back for a full refund today.  Now I hope that it doesn't take 2 weeks to get a credit to my PayPal account.
