Theres no spoofing involved in the process so dont keep calling it that.
Spoofing = Swapping a dvd drive with another model

Despite the fact that we differentiate the drives by refering to the firmware revision (9504 and 0225) ALL the DG-16D4s drives are identical.
They are not identical. The chip that stores the firmware on a 0225 drive is completely different to the one on the 9504. Hence the reason why it is currently write protected. If they were identical we would be able to flash it by now.

If you take a 9504 drive, erase the firmware and flash it with the 0225 LT+2.0 (once released) that drive becomes an 0225, it is NOT a spoofed 9504.
No it becomes a 9504 spoofed as an 0225. The Xbox is only tricked into thinking it is an 0225. Theoretically M$ could detect this by sending a write request to the drive (I believe the new dashboard updates can write to the drives) If they find they can write to it, they will be able to identify that it is not an 0225 drive.
The new firmware in the works attempts to counteract the realtime checks of the drive firmware revision. I'd imagine (I'm not saying I'm correct here) that spoofing the drive is still risky compared to flashing to the same drive.
The drives are identical except for the nand chip. That doesnt mean M$ aren't able to detect what drive is installed by identifying that chip.
I don't claim to know it all. I know how to flash the drives, and read the keys on an 0225. Neither of us know yet for certain what the method will be for an 0225 console. You may be right, regardless this has gotten way out of hand and neither of us know what the true result is until it is released.
So let's leave it at that.
