Also, Kernel downgrades is just another method of reading your CPU firmware.

It will, and can remove any XBOX live ban, by spoofing your MAC identifier address.

It is a very costly and risky method, but you can get back on LIVE. However, the account you used will be banned as well. But, I guess once you're in a hole, it's better to start figuring a method to get out, than to just sit there crying.

In order to do an unban, I need you to provide me with a dead XBOX, either a RRoD or fried GPU. (Can't be the CPU)

It also has to not have been banned by LIVE.

Kernel downgrades can still be done, but there not as useful as unbans.

EDIT: I hope that buying the SPEAR wasn't a mistake. Both people who asked about Lite-On have backed out.

You can find out roughly what drive you have, by comparing your manufacturing date of your XBOX, to those who have reported what kind of drive they have, in the XBOX 360 drive database.
