I did something to the video on my 1.0 motherboard.  

Composite has NO signal at all.  S-Video works, but is washed out and not at clear as it should be.  Component RGB works the best, but has some random flickering/glitches and isn't as good as my other 2 boxes.

I'm guessing it's a surface mount resistor or something, and I think I checked the orange filter properly and it appears to be ok, but not sure.

All audio works fine.

Think it's something you could fix?

Or swap 1.0 motherboards and I pay you a fee?

I also have a complete stock case and a few stock hard drives I can throw into the deal, including the stock hard drive that goes with the motherboard.

Hey tlamb sorry to jack your thread lol

mcowher I'm guessing one of 2 possible fixes

#1: Its just your AV cord they do sometimes short out after age trust me its not uncommon this can be remidied via you buying a new one (try with a friends or something first so you dont waste your money if its not)


#2: Its possible you could have an experienced modder such as me or maybe tlamb to hard wire the AV out for you directly to the motherboard this typically will fix it alsoas most of the time its the female xbox AV connecter connection gets lost also

your looking for someone who can do whats called "pressed soldering" i believe is what its called (or something like that) anyway the point is this form of soldering is more mechanical & not done with some normal soldering iron. It can be attempted via a normal soldering iron but i dont think a single modder here would give you any form of guarantee as what your asking to have done is not easy to do with a normal soldering iron. Also i dont believe they sell the ram chips anymore which is why ii havent even tried on my junky test box

why are you doing this. if you dont want something fixed, dont post here. i know how to fix a multitude of problems, and i am a honest guy offering a service to my fellow scene members. dont just go shitting on my repair thread. and you with your 29 posts, experienced, ha more like jerk. why jerk, cause why is it your business to tell other people how to fix their xbox when the obviously want someone else to do it. i would understand if this were the newbie chat section, but its not. its my repair thread, so unless you have something you want me to fix, keep your dumb ass posts to yourself. and do not question my soldering ability, have never failed a ram upgrade and i already have plenty of ram chips available from others failed mod attempts.

#1: I did no "shitting" on your repair thread WHAT SO EVER!!!

#2: You say your a honest person offerning a service then you would have said what I said in the first place. How am I a jerk for making sure my clients have ALL the facts to make an informed decision. Where as appearantly you don't seem to care. (which btw if you read what it said it COMPLETLY left it open for the guy the AV issue to easily use you.)

#3: A true moder would have said yes what I said was completely correct. And then maybe tried to add one other piece. This isn't a compitition this is about helping people which you appearantly dont care as much about.

#4: Throwing those little teenage fits is HIGHLY unprofessional. So if you intend on being in this industry I recommend you ascertain a more higher level of professionalism.

1:  ^ all that is crap, K? sry to use "shitting" but it was not necessary to post that in the first place.

2: your clients? i do believe that this is my thread. and i did talk to mcowher seperatly from this thread. $50 is completely reasonable for a complete mobo replacement. that being if it isnt a bad cord or loose connections on the board, which both are easily fixable within a matter of minutes (and it in the case that it wasnt a ruined mobo, and was one of the two suggested, he would have been charged a measly $10 for repair), and i figured that it would be the problem, but as i do not have the mobo, i cant not be certain. all of my clients are well informed and will NOT be ripped off or overpriced.

3: yes your most likely correct, but i dont need someone elst to tell me what i already know. if there was an issue there would have been a question posted in newbie chat, if i couldnt find any answers with a search first. (which so many neglect, but im not going into that) also it is clear that i care about the people here, cause if i didnt, i wouldnt offer my services at all. and i do offer some of the lowest prices here, and i do have a 100% guarantee that if something goes wrong, i will fix it at my cost.

4: throwing a fit?? im just upset that you "jacked" my thread, thought it was funny, tried to tell me things i already know, tried to tell me what to do, questioned my soldering ability, called me unprofessional, called me a child, posted when NOT necessary, posted again after i asked (or told) you not to. I appreciate the advice enixidfrag...Actually, I got a 1.0 Motherboard off a guy on eBay for $30 shipped, so I'm gonna hold onto my "buggy" motherboard and maybe attempt to fix it down the road.  I'm not a ultra skilled modder, but I'm close to finishing my first slimbox, which will be the 4th modded xbox in my house (well actually one is already in my car, and this new one will be in my wife's car).  

I tried various AV cables, but I think I did something when I hardwired an AV connection directly to the motherboard.  I shorted the correct pins and had it outputting composite video and L/R analog audio.  Was working great for a week or more, then suddenly composite stopped completely.  S-Video is functioning at about 50% performance (just my judgement), and High Def mode works pretty well, but there are some random glitches/artifacts on the screen in almost always the same part of the screen.

After the hardwired composite failed, I desoldered everything from the motherboard and tried using various cables, discovering what modes worked and didn't.

At this point, I will probably just use a multimeter and check all the surface mount components so see if I fried something.  I know there's an orange filter near the AVIP connector that's used for composite, so I'm gonna focus on that.

Thanks Tlamb for the offer, but it's more that I want to spend, especially since I was able to get ahold of a 1.0 motherboard myself.
