I've read tons of articles about networking my PC to my Xbox, but none have been successful. It looks like it's trying to connect but then I get the time out error message. Here's the details...
I'm connecting to my Xbox with a Dell laptop running WinXP, and my Xbox dash is EvoX. It was modded about a year ago. I'm using a "RadioShack E129760-C Type CM UTP 24AWG Cat5E Crossover" cable to connect directly from my laptop to my Xbox. Here are my settings...
[Network]
EvoX Dash:
SetupNetwork = YES
StaticIP = YES
IP = 192.168.0.3
SubnetMask = 255.255.255.0
DefaultGateway = <Blank>
DNS1 = 0.0.0.0
DNS2 = 0.0.0.0
SkipifNoLink = NO
And the FTP section look like this...
[FTP]
Enable = YES
Password = xbox
My laptop has a wireless net-card that's never used, and the cable is plugged into my LAN net-card. My TCP/IP settings for my LAN are...
IP Address: 192.168.0.2
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: <Blank>
DNS: <Blank>
I've used both CuteFTP and FlashFXP and I get the same results each time. I've turned off the Windows Firewall through the Control Panel by clicking the "Off (not recomended)" and then selecting the "Advanced" tab and unchecking my "Local Area Connection" under the "Network Connection Settings" box. I've even disabled my virus protection software. I created a site through "Site Manager" in FlashFXP and named it My Xbox. I entered the following info...
IP Adress: 192.168.0.3
Port: 21
Username & Pass: xbox
And I even went into the options menu and unchecked the box for Passive Mode. Then after I entered all the above settings I turned off both my laptop and Xbox. First I fired up my laptop and then my XBox and couldn't connect. My Xbox even said in the Settings that there was "No Link!". Then I reversed it and fired up my Xbox and then my laptop, and my Xbox showed there was a "Full Duplex" link but the IP Adress was 0.0.0.0 and FlashFXP kept timing out on the connection.
The last thing I've tried is pinging my Xbox with "ping 192.168.0.3" and it timed out. I even pinged my laptop with "ping 127.0.0.1" and "ping localhost" and these worked fine, so I know my TCP stack and driver for my NIC are loaded properly. Now I am at a loss! Can anyone please help me?
Thanks in advance,
WolfmanSL
