Can't View High Res With Modded Xbox
« on: April 03, 2005, 08:57:00 PM »

I'm super dissapointed I just got a new tv that supports high res 720p and 1080i, however when i try to play a game that supports these resolutions ie mx vs atv unleashed, the screen flickers black and white lines and then the tv goes blue. The highest I can successfully view a game is 480p. Please tell me its because I have a modded xbox, and that it is not my tv. thanks for the help.

I have an xecutor 2.3b and evox. anyone else have this problem?

You are using a hi def pack with Compoenet video cables right (3 cables for video).

If you get flickering, sound slike you are either not using component cables OR have them lugged into an EDTV input (480P) and not an HD (720p or 1080i_ input.

Thanks for the help guys. I think I have just figured out the problem although I am still dissapointed. Right now I have the xbox hooked up into my amp http://ecoustics.pricegrabber.com/search_t...751#description

using these av cables (psyclone)
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?j=...t&ref=03&loc=01

Then I use some standard red, blue, and green cables from the amp into this television.

I'm guessing since when I plug my xbox directly into the tv the high def works, that my amp does not support resolutions greater than 480p. Or I just have everything configured wrong. This sucks because I either get High def, or good sound. Please if anyone has any idea, or knows a better place to post let me know! :)

xbox-xecutor 2, evox, 120gb hdd.

I cant see the cables that you are using, but why do you need to run your video through your amp?  That makes no sense.  I have my component cables going into the back of my TV and my optical going into my onkyo.  The amp is for SOUND, the TV is for VIDEO.  There is zero reason you would need to be running your video in your amp.

if hes running multiple devices that use the HD connections on his TV the reciever is a necessity to hook up everything through *one* monitor input (dvd player, xbox, ps2, maybe a pc, another dvd player, HDTV cable/sat, another dvd player) ;)

i think its a legit question, but its very likely his receiver can't handle 720+. which sux. save some $? ;)

the more connections you have along the way, the more interference/signal loss you are going to have.

just a thought

Hopefully this link works better http://www.wildwestelectronics.net/micxboxmonga.html

the cables I'm using have the video and optical combined and do not seperate to go further than 6 inches aways from eachother, so unfortunatley I think I bought the wrong calbes because I have to choose one or the other, it just wont reach both. :(

My tv does not have audio output which is really stupid since it is a newer tv with all the latest stuff.

Although it is true that I would like to have multiple devices hooked into my high def, the xbox is the most important. Advice to anyone who is looking to buy cables for their box and run it through the amp: buy the optical and video seperate!

I guess 480p will work for now :) thanks again for the ideas.
