i'd say you have a problem with the ip-adress.

your computer probably uses DHCP to connect to the internet.

So you need to find out which ip it uses by entering the command: "ipconfig /all" in the msdos command console on your computer.

and then you need to change you xbox's ip to fit that one of the computer.

I would recommend using a router.  That way, both the xbox, and the pc are on the same network, instead of joining 2 networks together.  Joining the networks together can be a pain, and connections are never as fast or as stable.

There is a wireless 802.11g router for sale at compusa for $19.99 (59.99 - $40 in mail in rebates) after rebates, It will allow you to connect both the xbox and the pc to the internet and each other.  It will also let you upgrade to wireless in the future if you what to.

If you simply connect you cable or dsl modem to the router and your computer and xbox to the router you will be sitting pretty.  This way you can also go onto xbox live, xbconnect, or xlink kai without problems.

I got the same problem as descibed, but what i Can't figure out is why the connection to my xbox still doesn't work if i disable the network card of my internet connection.

Btw I also upgraded to Windows XP Service pack 2 after the last time logged onto my xbox.

I don't use a router but a Hub.

Can my problem be solved the sameway or does it have to do something with the upgrade to Service Pack 2?

Could someone help cause i don't know anymore.

SP2 does install a firewall in the security center but that should not be the issue especially if you disable it and it still does not work.

Before I got a router I would connect my xbox straight into my ethernet card and also could not see my xbox either.

What I had to do though was go into my network connections and the properties for my  Local Area Connection and configure it.

Did you try doing that yet Ghorph?

Read the tutorial in my sig.  Make sure your cards are on different subnets.
