Expert Help?
« on: December 07, 2004, 03:16:00 AM »

Hi there, I just need a few answers, hopefully someone can answer them?
Thanks a lot in advance!

The Story:
I bought an xbox in Hong Kong a few years ago, its pretty old (about 6 months before xbox live was available).  It had evox installed on it, and everything worked fine.  I opened it up once, to see what mod chip i had, and to my surprise, there was none... I asked around, and someone told me it must be TSOP flashed?

Anyway, everything worked fine, even though it was an old evox, it didnt phase me, everything still worked.  Then a few things have happenned.  1) the MS dash stopped working - error 12 i think when i'd try to go back to it (for putting songs etc on the hd).  2)  I just rented Chronicles of Riddick, and i got the 'updating live' thing others have had.

So now... I get the original MS Dash (with live), and no evox.  On the downside, i no longer have any access to evox, and XBMC etc.  On the upside, backups still seem to work!

Ive never installed evox, or anything like that, Just bought it as is, and occasionally uploaded apps like XBMC.

So now for the Questions:

1.  I dont have a mod chip, and it now only shows the MS Dash.  Does this mean that I can play live without being banned?

2.  What would i need to install to get back the Evox dash?  IMPORTANT:: Is there anything different I need to do considering I dont have a mod chip, and just have the TSOP flash? :: Could someone maybe post me a link to some easy to follow instructions?

Thanks a whole lot guys.  I'm very appreciative for your help.

PS -  please dont respond if youre just going to say "buy a mod chip".  Obviously I'm in need of a little more help than that.

if you can still play backups, then that means you still have the ability to run unsigned code.  If you had evox and xmc before then that means xbox live is a no go.  If you create a evox boot disk it should work as the backups did.  Then you can use ftp to reinstall the dashboards you need.  As far as I know you don't need to reflash the tsop unless you would like an upgrade.  (you said it was kinda old.)

hope this helps

Yes you will still get banned because you are running a hacked bios.

Thanks for that,

Would i be able to just run that Slayers Evox 2.6?
or do i have to do it manually?

Will this new Slayer's 2.6 run on the old TSOP code?

Hey guys, I solved the problem, thanks for your help.

Just incase anyone else gets the same or similar problem this is what I did.

Downloaded Slayer's Evox 2.6

Chose to update/install Evox on drive C (option 4)

Rebooted.

Simple.

It replaced the Evox as the main dash again.

Thanks again,
