1. What does your Xbox do EXACTLY when you attempt to boot it up?  Well it turns on green, then turns off, then turns on green again then turns the whole xbox off.  Sometimes when you hit the power button just the fan spins, doesnt turn any color.
2. What did you do to it right before you started having problems? Spilt solder on one of the sides of the samsung chip after attempting a mod install
3. What version of Xbox do you have? 1.0
4. What mod chip are you using? X2 Pro
5. Will it boot up with the chip disabled? no
6. Will it boot up with the chip enabled? no
7. What error code are you getting, if you're getting one? none

I doubt this can be fixed but I just wanted to know

Wow, that's nasty.

I can fix this, but it would probably be cheaper for you buy another mobo.

After shipping both ways, chip (Samsung K4D263238M) removal, and installing the LPC mod... you'd probably come out better buying new mobo.

Yes, the chip must be removed for proper cleaning and replaced if you broke any "legs", trying to remove the solder.

~Tester123

Yep its pretty bad, thats alright I already bought another motherboard and it works great.  I knew I probably had one of the worst ones.

Hi, i am kinda curious to know if you have seen this problem before, I gave up on it and have the x-box bits for sale on ebay in the U.K.  have done about 10 Executor chip upgrades with no problems before or after this lil problem. Not to worried, but seriously curious...... It is I believe, a V1.1, UK PAL, box.

Fitted x2 lite (I have done several of these before no problems)
Power up the xbox very quick flash of green then off,
flashes orange once
then orange twice
then orange 3 times
Then quiet.
There is no video ouput at any time.
Opened the beast up it becomes obvious that the power supply is cyclling on/off.
OK remove the x2 from it's connector unplug the power lead.
Check all is clean no solder splashes.
Put the unit back together exactly the same problem.
Check the voltages and sure enough the PSU is cycling.
Check all the connections remove power from DVD drive and hard disk along with IDE cable
No change
Remove the header plug for the x2 from the motherboard
checked the pads and tracks in that area nothing amiss
same problem
Put the motherboard in another xbox case to eliminate PSU
same problem
Been over the motherboard with a x4 glass can't see any solder where it shouldn't be
The motherboard is V1.1 no fan on the GPU heat sink and solder holes for header plug were clear.
Checked the mod chip in another xbox no

I wanted to let you peeps know that tester123 just repaired a box I managed to toast (flashing red/orange) and the result is fantastic.

Elsewhere on this forum, it's been reported that this error is a DOA that's not repairable.  Don't believe it.  Oh, yeah... in the process, I managed to trash the factory bios and somehow that did something to the hd so it required reformatting, too.  He fixed it all.  He even wired in my disable switch, which was what I was attempting to do when I managed to short something out.  His price was more than fair and the repair was very fast.  He had it back in my hands 3 business days after receiving it.

THIS GUY CAN DO IT ALL.  If you require a repair then YOU HAVE TO GIVE HIM A SHOT.  You will not be sorry.  I would definitely go to him again and give him my highest recommendation.

Thanks, tester123, I really appreciate your help and the great communication.  I hope we can do business again.  smile.gif

I know you said you've used a x4 glass to search the board, but try looking for a solder splash in between the "legs" of the TSOP, and the K4D263238M chips (Samsung memory). You may have bridged some legs... it could be the size of a pin head (that all it takes).

I linked point 18 to ground for Dolby Digital enable (did it all 100%, it worked for 20
mins then i rebooted and my system when nuts, wouldnt boot with mod or with
out...  reflashed chip and it worked.. execpt for the problem stated in #1

3. What version of Xbox do you have?

5. Will it boot up with the chip disabled?
   Yes.

6. Will it boot up with the chip enabled?
   Yes.

Hi Tester,

Sounds like your the man to talk to.
OK heres the deal. Ive been using my modded xbox for about 6 months now and everyting has worked flawless until recently. I havent done anything to the box for quite sometime. When I power it up, sometimes it just wont turn on. Other times it will just turn off while playing. It might not turn on all day and then it will power on and I could leave it on for a whole day and no problems.. really intermittent problem.

I have a version 1.0 box with a Xecuter2 lite, latest Evox Dash, 100 gig WD and side aux case fan.
I dont know if its a capacitor not holding its charge or what, but im certain it would be fixed by replacing the power supply.
Would you be willing to give me your opinion??
Also, if  you agree with the prognosis, where is the cheapest place to buy one... Llamma.com has em for $39.00 + shipping.... maybe ebay, i guess.

Anyway, I would greatly appreciate any help.
