I mod Xboxes using the Ozxchip. Price is $80 for soldering and software configuration. The Ozxchip is a factory manufactured modchip. Suitable for version 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2 Xboxes.

Software
Software installs allows you to play backups of your original games. Also allows you to play NTSC and JAP games. Software installed includes the following:
DVDX - region free dvd player. No need for DVD remote.
Evox Dashboard - allows ftp access to the Xbox. Contains general management tools such as setting ip, choosing Xbox skins etc. Analogous to an operating system in a computer.
XB Media Player - allows one to play divx, xvid, mpeg and MP3 files.
Game Ripper - allows one to rip games to the hard disk and run them from there without the need for the dvd to be in the drive. Excellant tool if you wish to prevent your discs from being scratched.

Extras
Switch for Xbox live or Switch to disable flashing +$10.
Hard disk upgrade +$10

1 year warranty on modchip itself. Money back guarantee if modification does not work. Furthermore if your Xbox is damaged during installation you get a replacement Xbox. NO QUESTIONS ASKED.
