Evo-x Locking Up
« on: May 16, 2003, 09:56:00 AM »

Whenever i try to exit a game im running from my HDD back into Evo-X, the dash will just totally lock up and i'll have to turn power off and back on then it'll be fine. This also happens when i use IGR on both HDD run games and Original DVD games. Anyone know why this happens or how to fix it?

The game in question is OddWorld, im exiting it using the return to dash option within the game, and thats when Evo-X Locks up.

What versions are you using . . . i.e. dash, BIOS.

Are you using X2 IGR or EvoX IGR?

If not allready disbale one of them . . .

Evox is disbaled by evox.ini (be sure to switched correct one off, there are many)

X2 is dsibaled by . . .

To disable the X2 IGR simply place the "x2_IGR_disabled" file on your E:/ drive - thats it !

I'm using the Evo-X IGR, i already have disabled the X2 IGR, as for the right one in evox.ini ive got them all turned on.

dash version is: 1.8.3752
bios version is: 4976.02

but why would IGR cause the dash to lockup when i was exiting this particular game through the actual option within the game?

After I updated my Xecutor Lite's BIOS to 4976.02, I experienced a similar problem.  (I wanted the new BIOS to take care of the new mediacheck games, and that part worked great.)

I'm using Evolution-X to launch my games.  I am able to launch one game or program.  Then I use Xecutor's IGR to quit the game.... and return to the EvoX menu.  When I select a *second* game, EvoX freezes with the big green "Evolution X" logo on the screen.  I have to restart the Xbox via the reset button in order to be able to play another game.

BTW, I just  updated to Evolution-X 1.8.3752, with the same results.

Now here's the catch --- this ONLY HAPPENS when the network cable is plugged in!  When I unplug the network cable, I am able to use IGR as launch as many games as I want, without any freezes.  The problem is the Xbox is in a cabinet and removing the network cable isn't always that easy.

I am using Xecutor's IGR, and I turned off all of Evox's IGRs in the evox.ini file.

Where can I find the "x2_IGR_disabled" file?  I guess the next step is for me to try and turn off X2's IGR and try and use EvoX's instead.

Or could it be something different?

Morglum, I also discovered that this also happens when I don't use IGR at all.

I play a game, exit it the "old" way via the games' menus.  Go back to the EvoX dash, launch a game, and BOOM - it freezes.  But only if the network cable is plugged in.  But then again, I'm always FTPing and using XBMP... it's always plugged in.  So unplugging it all the time's not an option.

I think I'm gonna revert back to the previous Xecutor Lite BIOS.    4976's mediacheck is one thing, but if I have to get up to restart the box after each game launch, fuhgeddaboutit!  I'd rather have it work the way it did before, and patch my games by hand... at least until this is fixed.

Ive now been using IGR the other way around, disabled Evo-X IGR and now use my X2's IGR, it still locks up but nothing near as much as it used to do, and never when i remove the network cable, it now only locks up at random times when i got the cable in, so looks like its gotta be something todo with the cable. Im sure the Evo-X team will have heard and taken notice of this problem as ive seen a few other posts now mentioning this and no doubt it'll be fixed in the next release. Fingers Crossed.  :)

Morglum,

Have you found a solution to your problem?
I'm facing the same problem now with Evox freezing when I exit an application or game (with or without IGR). This is happening only when the xbox is plugged in the network.

I'm using EvolutionX_V1_8_3752.

thanks.
