Hadn't turned my xbox on for a week or so, got the new GTA & verified in abgx, burnt with ImgBurn on verbs and turned the box on today.....banned sad.gif

Hitachi 1.51. Previous games were all verified and burn using the same method

Only me and one other person dont have modified firmware? sad.gif

i dont either, the machine was running 1.41 at one time for about a year or so, never updated past 1.41, did not use any backups for months now and about a month or so ago i actually flashed back to stock because i "got a feeling".....it was really weird, just thought one day, you know, its coming one day....and we use it for Netflix and use legit games 100% so i flashed it back

not banned either....

I have modded two of my friends boxes the last month, and mine has been modded for a year now, and we all burn our games on 2.4x burn speed with Verbatim DL dvds + abgx. None of us has been banned so far. Even played Forza 3 early. So bad disks may be the reason MS can detect modded boxes.

Haven't read the whole thread, but just wanted to debunk this idea. I use nothing but Verbatim DL's burned at 2.4x, so it's not the discs.

"don't know, stayed off LIVE"

that's what i selected since i cant afford to get banned solely because they disable the copying of games to hard drive ability which would suck for me since the primary game i like on XBox360 is Forza 3 which as you all know is on 2 discs and only way to use the 2nd disc (i.e. extra content) is to have it running from Hard Drive.

p.s. for the record i got a Samsung MS28 drive and i am not banned as far as i know but i aint going to sign in to check unless they stop disabling of the copying games to hard drive stuff.

so most likely i wont be signing into XBox Live for a long time on that console, if ever again.

The idiot that charged me $40 to flash my FW powered the liteon
with the XBOX itself... that jackass powered it on without the DVD drive...

"BTW ppl, if your banned and just cant figure out why, thats it"

"Probably why 1 guy here was banned in the middle of playing a legitamite game"

Theres a ROM chip that records activity on your xbox
and power on without a dvd drive connected is a pretty big ass red flag
you want to avoid.

So has anyone that has done a xclamp repair without modding been banned then?

I'm also banned yesterday 10-November 2009.
I only played stealth patched games and never played games early then release date. I never used an activation disk and only played wave 3 games (before COD6). My xbox never booted without DVD-drive. Only played Fifa09, FIFA10 and Guitar Hero 4 on this console.
I bought COD MWF2 and before that i was not banned. I inserted COD MWF2 into the drive (flashed with iXTREME 1.51) and immediately i got banned. When i try to sign in i got the message that my console was banned. Very strange.

Something I haven't seen discussed a lot is the region checking..just curious. To the people that have been banned - have you been playing region-free patched games or only the releases for your 360's region?

Just waned to add my info here, hoping it will help us figure out how MS is doing this.  I was banned last night and I have  few theorys.

First of all Ive been modding consoles for a long time.  My console that got banned has a BenQ spoofed as a Sammy.

I stayed away from any Wave4 games and never even downloaded 1.  I stealth check all my games and.  I havnt even played a game online for weeks.  Though my profile automatically logs in my profile and live because we use it to watch movies from the media server in our house.

With that being said here is a theory that crossed my mind.  I put off even DLing MW@ until yesterday morining.  I did start the download before I left for work.  When I come home the kids turned on the xbox to watch a movie and bam! My console was banned.

Anyone else have a sneaking suspecion that MS is watching game downloads, recording ip addresses and waiting for that console to come online on the same ip as the pc that downloaded the game?  It would explain the bans on the unmodded consoles.

Well I think its pretty obvious that the latest dashboard update (wave4)...detects modified fw right away when u connect to live...doesnt matter what u do.....your fw squeels on you....and then u get banned.....

I don't think Microsoft is doing that. I guess they identified your modified FW or they were able to identify your modified box some time ago. This makes sense as if they would directly ban you because for example you  played a corrupt copy or similliar they would show how they identified you. They way they are doing it is opening many theoratically ideas what could be the driver and makes it much more complicated for the scene to find something to block it.

Microsoft is definately not watching downloads. I know this because I was recently banned and I have never downloaded a game, period. All of my backups have been self made from the original disks and verified with abgx. Also, if this were the case, M$ wouldn't be able to catch the people who let someone else download thier games.

Seems like this could be true, but wouldn't everyone be banned already then? Microsoft wouldn't pick and choose accounts to ban if it could catch everyone.

Both very good points,,,Like I said though I just wanted to add my 2 cents worth.....Now that you mention the latest dashboard update ,,,,,, Maybe that would have something to do with it,, I dont know why but it skipped my mind.

The thing that really urks me is I really didnt play online games but More so I used my console to watch movies on.

No biggie though I just moved the media server to the 50" Samsung,,, What a PIC!! smile.gif

All this being said, one would think MS stands to loose a bunch of money from this.  Heres what I know about my situation.

1) I pay the monthly live subscription faithfully.
2) I use the console mainly for movies and such.
3) If I have to pay $60 to try a game and decided I dont like it... Not gonna happen.

So my thinking is this... Christmas time, PS3 price drop, No subscription fee for PS3 internet (as far as I knows), PS3 plays movies, is more stable, and roughly the same price for games etc.

The ONLY reason I have not bought a PS3 and stayed with the 360 is cause I could mod it.

So if this goes away I belive I will be buying a PS3 soon and Canceling my XBOX Live membership.

I know that we need to buy the games to support the game makers and I do buy the ones I like.  But looking at this from MS stand point if all of the 1,000,000 supposed banned consoles have the same line of thinking as me, thats roughly $8,000,000 lost PER month!

Givin there are more variables here that need to be factored in but at first look,,,,, I think $8,000,000 a month is a nice chunk of change to loose.

This has been an interesting ride with the new wave bans.  I've got 2 xbox's and my friends all have various versions, so we played the test the console on live game lol.  Anyways one friends xbox w/ BenQ drive and 1.61 got banned trying to play Tekken 6 yesterday and my other friend has a Samsung w/ 1.61 and it got banned trying to play Modern Warfare 2.  Now mind you the Modern Warfare 2 Disc is the one I used in my xbox and i have a Lite-On 1.60 w/ activate Iso and played with no problems. Seems like 1.61 has some flaws or something cuz there the only ones that got banned.   I'm trying to get banned haha I've been trying all the new games on my console to see if I'm next,
