I tried this and it works now.

Yes I thought it was a joke too. So simple. I didn't even hit hard. Just 2 firm taps on the side. Certainly less damaging than the towel trick. A friend of mine did this successfully with his rodded falcon 360 and it's still working perfectly 6 months later. Let's see how long mine lasts. Crazy fickle machine.

I just found out that my HALO 360 has a Zephyr board which kind of sux. Then again another box I cannabilized had a falcon board and 3rrod twice and now it's just a brick(0001 secondary code). The HALO version was even manufactured before the other box. JUL 07. KNOCK ON WOOD.....

Only 360 I ever had was a Xenon, back in 2006. It just died on me a few months ago.

I have a Xenon version and no ROD appears untill now...but dvd reader is died two times...thank you Micro$oft...

i had one go 0001 the day after i got it, psu was fine so i figured a capacitor blew (M$ likes pushing the limits of capacitors), we probably wont see major error codes for another month or so and not in big numbers until the end of the year atleast, still i think jasper should be added to the poll

Well that's disappointing :/

I'm not sure if I should wait before seeing about picking another 360 up or not (probably a jasper arcade)...perhaps I should.

1 launch Xenon just failed in December, they gave me a zephyr when I sent it back.

Has anyone ever sent back a xenon or zephyr and got a falcon, opus, or jasper? I don't think it's possible because they would have to provide a brand new power supply right?

actually no, your xenon psu can power the other 360s. older psu's can power newer consoles, but not the other way around.

oh cool thanks for the info. I just wish they'd have given me at least an opus but oh well

This new one is literally twice as loud as my old xenon. It's like a god damn leaf blower. And every time I switch a weapon on fallout 3 it hangs for half a second unless I do a hard drive installation (my old xenon could switch weapons without freezing at all)

Are there speed differences in the various dvd drives?

they're still sending out xenon boards? that's weird.
anyway, all drives are 12x by defult, over time they just don't work as good as they used to

Got my first RRoD the other day - launch day Elite (Zephyr, I think). Showed no signs of problems until the graphics (colour) messed up. Plugged my PC in to check that it wasn't my monitor, and after putting the VGA cable back in no video signal was picked up at all. It took a few days of trying to solve the problem before the RRoD actually showed on my console.
