huh.gif OMFG!!! Saying Zune murders the Ipod in this "present day" of mp3 players and not expecting ppl like us to react is like Superhead giving Charlie Chaplin a hand job and he remains silent.

The only thing pleasing about the Zune is the way it handles the album art cover. Yeah it looks sleek; its got that Vista appeal; BUT the Zune software still sucks. Wi-fi in the Zune is pointless. Why would I want my fellow Zune friend to send me a song through wi-fi which i can only access/play on my zune for 3 days because they expire. haha LAME. It aint like Im gonna ask my zune friend to send me a pic of his dog on the fly. In fact, who stores pictures to be shared on a portable player??? If I want wi-fi in an mp3 player, it should be able to stream music from my main pc just like I do whenever Im away from home with the itunes and a 3rd party app/ vpn client. Now, wouldn't that kick ass.  Support for unprotected formats??? Support divx then. In built FM when the point of an mp3 player is to play back DIGITAL audio. Cmon now.

Zune is a mediocre mp3 player. Just wait and watch it become a fad quick.

Ipod video is good but overpriced. Combined with rockbox and ipod linux it is even very good.
After 6 months my ipod video crashed (hdd failure ..) but I got a new one without any problem.
So I'm happy with the Ipod, but next time I'll buy something different (maybe a smaller version of the zune).

Also I can't stand Itunes, I use winamp and anapod instead.

I got a Zune for christmas. I had been using a 30GB iPod PHOTO (not video) so it was a step up. My friend has a 60gb iPod Video and I must say after playing with both, I think the only thing that the ipod has over the Zune is more storage capacity. However, the video compression used by the Zune is pretty freaking amazing seeing as I have 5 complete movies on mine and it's using less than 2gb with over 1000 songs as well.

They both suck.  Get a 4GB flash mp3 player from Sansa for under $150.  Battery life goes for 15+ hours.  

Plus, all the DRM crap you get from their respective music-purchasing stores sucks.

Ipod video, 80 gigs! My only gripe is the lack of flac playback... and since ipod linux isn't compatible with 80 gigs yet..

im pretty much on the fence about video media players

i got an 80gb iPod video for christmas, but dont want to open it up becuase im not sure if i want it.  I have been looking at the Zen Vision W and Archos 504 80GB, mainly because of the screen size.

I would never have even kept it, except that i live in New Jersey and going to schoool in San Diego(for the plane rides).  Im not going to use it for listening to music that much, but i would like to at least fit it in my pocket.

So basicly i have to decide if i want smaller screen size and have to convert videos all the time or 1-2 hours less battery life.

Then with the archos i need to find out if i really need the h264 plugin and mpeg 2 plugin.( the @ssholes make you pay extra for it)

the zune didnt win there are 3 options for ipod when you add them up zune gets 42.64% and ipod gets 57.36% doesnt look like the zune won to me. and why are people voting for zune when all they have is stuff they've heard, the only people who can make an educated unbiased vote are those who either own or have owned all of them.

i played with a Zune for a few days (my uncle asked me to upload songs)

With my iPod, I can add songs from ANYbody's computer.
With the Zune, I only can via 1 computer... meaning I can't add songs through my 2nd laptops or my desktop. On top of that, the album pictures look pixelated (not clear). The iPod keeps the pic looking nice and small. Last (but not least) really annoying feature is that to watch a video, you have to rotate the zune sideways. to change between video, you have to flip it back. This gets annoying. It also happens when you select a picture. It is wide when you are looking, but when you want to select it as a BG, the zune rotates the pic and makes it look stretched, aka pixelated.

did anybody mention how huge it is?? that m' f' is HUGE

I wanted a Zune at first, but I guess I'll wait for Zune v2 to see if I'm gonna let go of my iPod.

Yeah overall i like tha zune better but the ipod does have better meaning more storage capacity. So for were it stands at tha moment i would choose that 80 gig Ipod (video) over tha Zune. But i do like the Creative M also. If i was rich i would get em all they all have pros and cons 2 em but well see were Microsoft takes the Zune.

First off, let it be known that I did not sell my soul to MS.  Now that thats out of the way, I honestely like my Zune much more than the iPod video.  Now hold on before you all bite my head off.  Does one play videos or mp3s better than the other?  No. Then why is Zune better?  In my opinion it all comes down to execution.  The iPod user inerface and iTunes software have been is sore need of a redesign for a LONG time.  Yeah they've recieved little improvements and tweaks here and there, but they're ugly, outdated and slow.  Reliability is mediocre.  Zune on the other hand is new, fresh and slick.  Definately more with the times and in tune with the people actually purchasing these things.  FM radio is the shit and the ability to switch between upright and landscape view is sweet as well.  Zune FTW!
