The songs are in MP3 format. iTunes wanted to convert any songs being put on the iPod. Simply copying songs to the iPod stores them but does not let you play them. What kind of sh!t is that? Let me ask you this. Is iTune or iPod Access going to take these 300 album playlists and use them to put the correct songs on the iPod like WMP will do for most other mp3 players? iTunes is a Macintosh program that should have stayed there. I'm sick of this exclusivity these companies want for their products. Who cares what program I use as long as I'm using your product? That's why my choice was for the zen. Not to mention you can play any type of video, not that stupid ipod crap. Also I have yet to see an iPod with a built in radio... something very important for people living on base.

BTW... not everyone needs to carry around 60GB of song files. After all, you're not going to listen to those in one day, one week, and probably not even in one month. 30GB is more than enough for most people unless you got a music library completely 100% independent of a Mac/PC.

Please use an iPod for more than 5 minutes before bashing it. No conversion is needed, nor does iTunes bug you to convert Mp3 files. I can play music thats on my iPod without issue on my Mac, Windows, and Linux (well may a little bit of an issue on Linux, but what isn't really?). There are more pain in the ass ways to go about it, but you can play music off the iPod in iTunes. Just tell that machine you want to manually manage song files on the iPod. The iPod does almost everything else your gripeing about (video needs to be down-converted anyways, and radio is useless), but it's easier I guess to just piss on something with never using it (iTunes is NOT required to use an iPod on any OS for full functionality outside of purchased files PERIOD).

60GB? I can fill that, but I don't. 10-20gigs is random files, music & videos. Plenty of uses for that space. Oh, and a very small percentage of the market gives a flying crap about having an FM tuner in their MP3 player. MP3 players are there to get you off the FM tit, and if your "on base" you can pick up any number of cheap FM tuners. Less than 5% of the market would use such a useless feature. It's like complaining your CD player doesn't have a record player. Sure a few people would like it, but it's functionally useless.

Sorry, I haven't fed a troll in a while. They need love too these holidays.  jester.gif

Alrighty now I have two ipods and just got a zune. What I can say is this, Apple has had many years at getting the ipod to where it is now. This is Microsoft's first try. For the First try, it is amazing. The unit itself has a awsome interface. The quality of the screen is awsome. It just feels more user friendly. Now the computer software is not my favorite. But hey neither is iTunes. I hate iTunes with a passion and I refuse to use it. I use EphPod. Now the Zuze software I think is a little better than iTunes. For me it is more straight forward. But thats me. As far as buying music. Personally I could care less about that. I dont buy electronic music. I do like the possibilities of the Wifi. It would be nice if I could just drop music on it like a HD. But thats not a big deal because putting my own music on the Zune is mad easy and very fast. Same thing goes for movies and photos. Now unlike many people I did not have problems installing the software and getting it to work. I really dont know how people could have gotten that wrong. As far as USB problems, well the people that are having those problems...thats your computer and not the Zune.  So maybe you need to update your drivers or get a new USB 2.0 card.

So again over all I think the Zune was a great investment. Now I will be selling both of my iPods.

My Black Video Ipod rocks, it's the best gadget I've ever bought I think, I'm glad to, I don't like Zune's DRM, Ipod DRM is just right (AAC)..

What's with the lack of options on this poll?

If I'm going on a long trip, I'm going to bring my laptop. I can play all the music I want that way.
What I look for in a portable MP3 player isn't 1200 hours of music. It's portability.

I have an iPod (4G), but it sits on my desk collecting dust. It's too big and bulky to take on a jog, or use at the grocery store.

I have an MP3 Watch. It's always there, and it serves a functional purpose besides playing music.

iPod is better for sure. Itunes pwns WMP, same disc space(30gb 4 me) but its smaller. That wifi and fm radio make the zune huge compared to the ipod and are pointless, 3 plays wow thats amazing and the whole point in an mp3 player,cd player, type player etc. is so you dont have to listen to the radio. Plus no wheel. The only the zune has is its album art looks sick besides that ipod does a better job of being portible.
