What Do You Primarily Use To Connect To The Internet?
« Reply #60 on: November 18, 2006, 02:03:00 AM »

I have Qwest DSL. I used to have Comcast cable, but it's not worth the money. Verizon has brought Fiber Optic to our city, but I found out that the phone companies (Qwest and Verizon in this case) are allowed to have 'boundries' in the city and they can't cross into each others' area. Of course lucky me, I'm in Qwest's boundry which means no Verizon Fios.

Fiber,
I remember the days when i had 0.5mbit. Those days are gone. Now i have 100mbit down and 10mbit up. I think it is enough. That combined we don't so much anti-pirates and sweden makes it:  laugh.gif

spare a thought for us aussies.... most of us are on lowly 512k/128k adsl..... the main telco has just started uncapping adsl speeds so that should go up to 8mbit in a few weeks... we also have cable but only in the capital cities mainly.

ADSL2 is just starting to kick off in the last few months which is 24mbit down I think....  cant see myself affording that any time soon though.

There are still plenty of users here on dialup too.

Ah...... life in sweden seems like the ideal, if it wasnt for the fact that you are living in permafrost for the better part of the year  smile.gif

cable: 25mbps down 1mbps up
and also a edu which is
10mbit down, 10mbit up

Edu is crap, i can barely avg 800k/s down, cable is solid, pull full 25mbit regardless of peak hours

I have SBC Yahoo DSL...had it for about six years now.

6 Mb/s download (I really get about 5 Mb/s, though)
768 Kb/s upload (I get about 620 Kb/s)

Meh, it gets the job done.

Add ADSL

I'm 512k/256k no cap great ping in PC online games. www.zen.co.uk

I do have a wireless access point thats connect to my ADSL router but I don't use it much.

I had to vote DSL since there was no ADSL.

ok fellas to set things straight ...the fios is only fiber to the outside of the home and from there its all coax to the modem and converter boxes just like all the other cable companies. and just to point out ur only as fast as ur slowest part so if u got some shody wiring in ur house a pos pc u will still have crappy speed. the fios is a great buy right now but in the long run u will pay more ...just look at all the taxes and fees verizon charges for a simple house phone....and add that with a 2 year contract.
