I mainly use it to play shoutcast radio stations so that I can play it thru my surround sound system. I also used to use it to stream music from my PC, but I use the XBOX 360 for that now.

The 4% in catagory 2 need to give their head a shake. XBMC is the BEST thing to every happen to the XBOX. I use it exclusivley. It does everything that you could possibly want. If it doesn't do something you want, you probably just don't know what you are doing.

The only reason that i don't have XBMC as my dash is the boot times, and simplicity of install

XBMC is great! I love it for all its streaming capabilities. I use UIX as my default dash though (no particullar reason, just like it), Ava for FTP, and I havent looked at UnleashX much, its on my box, just haven't really looked at it... haven't touched evox dash in ages.

I use XBMC for everything. boot to it, play movies/music from it. launch games. everything. All the xboxes I mod use it as primary. Quix will transfer to it even while i am watching a movie, so i dont really use avalaunch. Only thing in my opinion that XBMC lacks is the trainer section that evox has.

I too use UnleashX as my default, but for everything else its XBMC. If the only modded application was XBMC, it would still be worth the mod. I stream divx, mpeg, and everything else from either the hard drive, my PC, or the internet.

Funny thing is that my father in law loves the picture slide show with music, he bought an Xbox just for that function. What's worst is he is technologically illiterate and struggles some, even funnier he is fricken 68 years old!!! I wonder if he is the oldest out there with a modded Xbox.

I use XBMC almost everytime I turn on my modded box. My dash is evoX. I haven't been able to find a bios that loads xbmc automatically yet. But if they Had it I would use it. Let me know if they do. I know you can change the name of it but thats gay, cause I want to also be able to bot to evoX cause thats where I do all my stuff for games. I love listening to shoutcast streams and watching trailers. And if you have the Windows media center theme it makes it even better. Also streaming video and music from the pc is alot easier then doing it with a 360. I don't have media center on my pc so when I want to watch the vids off of that I have to use XBMC, but thats not a problem. The only thing I wish is that they would put a internet broswer in it, and not links book. One that sopports mouse and keyboard and flash, and all the other plugins. Maybe someone could make a port of IE or even better Firefox.

you just have to edit a bios to boot up xbmc if you want to boot up other dash's aswell.

As for me, the main reason I use XBMC for my main dash, is because its the only dash that I know of that supports the Xecuter lcd.

and XBMC Rules, its real easy to run, and the skins are sick

I also have unleashX as the dash but funly enough I only use is to boot XBMC for wich i use to stream XviD'S from my server to XBMC wich inturn does a lovely job using the xbox to output to my HDTV and 5.1/DTS amp many times a day :-)

Oh yes, it's my default dash after trying lots of others. Media streamed via SMB couldn't be simpler. Choosing video regions for games now also works perfect in xbmc...
The only thing I don't rely on XBMC for, sadly, is xbox-to-xbox transfers, where the built-in file manager has failed many many times to make a good copy of a game folder to another xbox. I still have to use the xbftp client... bummer at lan/system link parties, but usually no bother otherwise. And the file manager has some other issues too, which leads to frequent use of boxplorer, a sometimes better option.

XBMC and EMU stuff is the only reason I bought an XBOX. They reached their pinnacle in development and I finally broke down and got an XBOX.

Its a great media center coupled with a wireless adapter. Ive tried other dashes for fun, but just for fun. They don't tend to my needs like XBMC does.

I edited the iND bios to boot to XBMC in its normal place and use evox as the in game reset so I can easily switch to that from anywhere. The iND editor was pretty easy to find and use.
