XBMC does make the most sense to use as a dashboard, i mean cmon if you have a recent build of it how can you say it is not the best to use? its totally customizable, its not like xml files are that much trickier than an ini file. the only reason why i have EVOX as my dash is becuase i can turn it on quickly to ftp easy, but i just keep the short cut option to hold the trigger to boot xbmc when i want. by far xbmc is better then unleashx or avaluanch. its totally opensource and more customizable.

I use XBMC as my main dash.
I have a build with the latest LinksBox web browser built into it.
I also have edited the sub-menu to include Evo-X, UnleashX, and Avalaunch so I can load into a new dash quickly.
I also added the option to reboot directly to my SmartXX mod chip as well.
With the scripts I have installed it is a full blown communications, web browsing, media center and there is no need for anything else.
If you add the Xored trainer Launcher, Evo-X is no longer needed, and YES there is a way to enable Avalaunch-like boost mode so Avalaunch is no longer needed either. I am also looking into making Quix fully compatible with XBMC.

Well either way...if anyone wants my full-featured custom build, let me know.

One thing I have noticed about XBMC that could be my fault is XBOX -> XBOX transfers. I get much slower speeds doing XBOX -> XBOX through FTP if the host box is running XBMC. When I boot Evox from within XBMC and use it as the FTP server, speeds are great. Speeds from my PC -> XBOX while running XBMC are fantastic though. No big deal really, as I just run Evox as a program from XBMC and copy what I need and reboot.

Ill try anything. Im more of a hardware person, would like to fully customize my xbmc but keep puttin it off. Could you save me the trouble? Thanks

Why isnt the XBMC fourm under dashboards? Seeing just under software dosn't do it justice, its the dash i use for all my customers.

I would use xbmc but it doesnt have the feature to play music at startup like unleashx, I like it, it has a much more clean look and many features more than unleash.

Umm, yeah it does. a certain song or random from your collection. it can even play a video at startup. Maybe its time for u to switch.

I'd been a sony bitch and had a PS2 from initial release, I only bought an xbox because my mate had one and i saw how xbox media player could stream divx and music from a pc.

Compare xbmc to xbmp now eh? How things/features have progressed from the original xbmp that had the basic mplayer in it, i don't even use my ps2 anymore except for playing ps2 only releases.

Xbox rocks as a games console but i honestly dont think i would have bought one if it wasn't for the media capabilities offered by xbmp/xbmc, its a shame M$ have been pussys with the lame "media centre extender" instead of actually writing a 360 version of xbmc... imho...

I have used all of the dashes and they all have their merits but as i mostly use my xbox to play dvd's or stream from itunes or to listen to internet radio i am currently using xbmc as my dash.

Respect to all the people involved i love XBMC, it will always have a special place in my heart.

i like this dashboard alot. Nice features of audio qality enhancement and plugins of all sorts.

i got unleashx on a vista skin as main dash and xbmc as a app in a vista skin
