Do You Have An Xbox 360 And Is It Working Fine?
« Reply #75 on: November 27, 2005, 04:33:00 PM »

anyone who has a 360 that doesnt turn on (well turns on but the ring of light flashes orange, and no video) may likely have a bad psu or bad connections..

my 360 did it one night after saying how it was working fine. i unplugged the psu and plugged it back in again and it worked..

remember, the psu has more then 2 wires this time smile.gif so it could turn on but something might not be getting the power so it has no video.. havent seen too many fo these 360s though.

thats right. there are several different voltages that need to get through. if you arnt gettign oen if them, say the 12v, then the mobo will power on, but wont be able to do anything

I do not have the new xbox...I am straddling the fence on whether or not to get it or not. On one hand, the technical difficulties is rather unsettling. But on the other hand, there are far more xboxs that are working very well. It sounds like it is a crap shoot either way. One thing is for sure: if I get this new xbox, I WILL be plopping down the extra money for the warranty. I trust EBgames more than MS...

ahh, no it is or was 20%...not total votes but people who OWN a 360... at the time it was 777 total that owned one and I believe it was 158 of those people were having issues... so 20% of the 360 owners here....

ok, now i see what your saying

but i would count on the results as being very accurate, as there is a good chance that the people around here woudl have more problems with their 360's. a lot of people with problems may have come here to find a solution.

id say the real percentage of xbox's that have at one stage (for any reason) f*ck'd up is less then that

the only problem ive had is with media connect

What problem are you having with WMC? You have to be completely up to date on your pc and have to install the wmc for the 360.

I don't have a Xbox 360 yet, but I will be getting it pretty soon. It's the premium package one, and I bought 2 extra wireless controllers, and 5 games for it. Hopefully mine won't have any technical difficulties like some of you are having. I'm going to be playing it on my 51" Sony Wega, awesome T.V. by the way. Hope everyone who doesn't have one gets theirs soon.

I've had mine running 24/7 since a week before general release (Thanks Pepsi!) with zero problems.  The Media Center software loaded and ran first time too but then I read some of the instructions first unlike what I usually do.

I wonder if any of the problems reported can be due to insuficient household power to meet the (huge) requirements of the 360?  I know I've lived in a lot of older apartments in heritage buildings in Vancouver and had nothing but problems with the older wiring and my game machines.  Some had intermittent problems and some like my Famicom Disk Drive wouldn't work at all.  All worked great at my buddies' places. (Drove me crazy until I figured out the problem)

could be that 'dirty power' is a probelm for some. but a 360 wouldnt suck up as much juice as a computer...

the only reason that consoles tend to have more problems in this area is because of the tolerance in the rectifing circuit. they tend to have less tolerance, so there may be issues.
just out of intrest, i have only ever heard of issues of 'dirty power' in the united states...
