WHy spend the time and money testing the units? whe nthe conumer will test them for you. I just do not like MSs's business practices, they rush product to market and claim a "Loss" on the units. Sure, maybe they lose $50 bucks a unit, but they will more than make up for it in games and accessories.

yeah well it is a well known fact that m$ make all their (xbox) money out of the software and accessories.

Bought 4, keeping 1, selling the 3 others on e-bay (spaced them out as to not to "place all my eggs in one basket" so to speak).  First one went for $650, Second one went for $780, and the final one I am still working on selling (a lot of my friends want it).  Mine is working perfectly with 25+ hours on it, I keep it horrizontal, and keep the power bar up on the shelf for ventilation and display purposes (I don't want to have to keep reaching behind my setup to show people who come over the infamous power bar) smile.gif

Edit:  I should add that it is in my basement so it is in a rather cool eviroment (approx 10-15c  or  50-60f). which probably helps with the heat issues

Quick note
Right now out of the 1429 people who voted that they do have the 360, 19.9% of them reported problems.  That would average out to about 1 in 5.  I wonder if that is a good cross section to reference for the overall launch, or if more voters would show a decrease to that percentage.

I guess time will tell.

I messed up my need for speed game, other than that it works great.  Don't position it in the vertical position, if it is moved slightly in this position the dvd drive will scrub the game and leave a scratch mark across the game and screw it up.

I'm content with my original xbox until a game comes out in the 360 lineup that is more up my alley... or until the 360 is modded.  biggrin.gif

Also, I had an earlier version of the PS2 and it wasn't as good as latter versions. Plus, the potential hardware issues are a concern.

id say it isnt. being a forum about hardware, it would make sense to call the sample here biased

I found 4 core 360s in pc world yesterday by chance around 3o'clock. It was a special package for £359.99 including 4 games of your choice. The guy in store said no one had noticed them because they hadnt put the POS out yet. I thought at the time £360 was a lot for the core unit and didnt think there would be a big enough profit margin in it if I sold them on ebay (which I intended to do) but when I went home to check online I saw core units alone without games going for £500!!! wtf!! damn it! I wish id bought them when I saw them!! DOH!!. Could have got at least £400 per console and then maybe £30 for each of the 4 games!!. god damn! with the profits I could have bought one for myself! rolleyes.gif .

I got mine on the night of theUS launch and when I got it home and turned it on, there was n error screen saying to contact MS!  I was so pissed because we waited in line 7 hrs for it and it was like 1am.  I restarted the xbox and it has never caused a problem since.  I tried to set up music streaming to my PC and they require windows service pack 2 on your PC.  I downloaded and set it up, restarted my pc and then my pc hdd was all crashed and missing operating system files...lol  Got everything working now though....and love the 360!

Finally got one. Have been playing it at least 6-8 hours a day for the last four days. No problems to report. However, I made sure to leave plenty of room around the console itself and to suspend the power brick in mid-air.
