Read this post - it explains how to check the cluster size, and how to reformat with the correct cluster size if your cluster size is wrong. It applies equally to F and G.

Make sure you use XBPartitioner 1.1.

Hmm I've learned to check the cluster size from a post on the xbmc forum. Last time I checked it was 16 sad.gif , I'll try the resize trick tomorrow. I guess your explanation also goes for a system where theres no G drive?

Any reason why in xbpartitioner none of the buttons really work( like right trigger left trigger x ,a,b,y,white, black).

I'll report my findings tomorrow

Thanks

Yes, it also works for a system with no G partition.

Some Xbox apps don't work with some third party controllers. I don't recall having that problem with XBPartitioner, but you should try a different controller - preferably a genuine Microsoft one, just to be sure.

This fixed my problem thanks very much.  I never woulda thought that a 3rd party controller would cause these problems.

Allright on to the next problem :-).

500 g sata drive , in my setup. Succesfully formatted with 32 byte clusters BUT!!!!!! When ftp uploading a couple of games and movies , the drive doesnt respond on reboot.

I fixed this by removing the drive and then plug it right back in but I don't feel much for doing this every time I upload a file.

Any ideas??

Greetings

Have you read about all the problems that exist with sata drives?
It looks like you are facing one of them.
I don't see how removing and reinstalling the disk might give a difference when you boot?

If you unplug the xbox from the mains for a couple of minutes, does that help as well to fix the boot issue?

regards.

Honest anwser : No I haven't read all the info about the problems with sata drives. (I know I should have but it was kind of a experiment)

Let me explain the problem somewhat further.

1.xbox runs fine ( with 500g sata)
2.I ftp over some games/music/videos.
3.reboot xbox to let the games appear in dash
************************************************************Problem***********
4.On powerup HDD doesn't respond --------->>dash will not start
5.Unplugging the drive and then plugging it back in seems to fix it .
6.xbox  boots happily and everythings oki.

So disconnecting the HDD and then plugging it back in seems to work , but why does my xbox refuse to see it while its rebooting after ftp transfers.

greetings

If unplugging/replugging fixes it, then my first thoughts would be of a grounding issue, a short or a buildup of static electricity (or any combination thereof).

Whatever the cause, odds are the SATA adaptor is to blame. Make sure it's not being bent or anything when you put the top of the case on the system.
