A failed EEPROM would flash red only.

Presumably the console isn't giving video/audio output? If it does, what do you see on the screen?

Does the LED start flicking as soon as the console is powered on? If not, what happens first?

This typically points to a motherboard fault, usually with the LPC or TSOP regions of the motherboard. If the console has had any work done "under the hood" (eg, modchip installation), such areas would be the first to inspect - if not, then you may be in for a tricky fix.

Ok so today I just tried the broken xbox again.  Now the light flashes green, off, green, yellow, off, green, red, green, red, etc, etc.  Is this meaning that it is toast?

So it's the same as before, but it flicks yellow a moment? Odd. Might be a loose AV cable causing the yellow, but odds are the main issue still stands: There's a problem with the motherboard somewhere.

You could try looking for melted capacitors maybe?

Ok, thanks.  I'll have to get some screwdrivers to open it up sometime.
