Ive added my cathode tutorial to the 360 case modding section.

I could pm some members asking for permission to use their tuts and add them to the wiki, i have alot of spare time.

Im very new to this however, so i cant make spectacular looking pages.

yeah link to it all you like... that's what it's there for  smile.gif

As for making spectacular pages, that's no big deal. Where anyone can up and edit it they can clean up your formatting if need be.

Also if you need help just look around wiki-pedia and find a page with a layout you like... click the EDIT button at the top and it will show you how they did it   wink.gif

Are there any rules for taking tutorials from xbox-scene and transfering them to wiki-scene assuming all due credit is given?

I sometimes am displeased with how the tutorials are set up on the main page and think a wiki organization would be much more efficient and fluid. I'd be willing to donate some of my time copying this information over but I don't want to upset anyone since I know xbox-scene uses the main page as a revenue source, but I don't know how much the tutorials play into this.

I also feel a lot of the tutorials on the forums are spread out somewhat confusingly and takes me quite a bit of time to find what I'm looking for sometimes. Centralization on a wiki would make this much easier.

Let me know smile.gif

There is no need to copy them to the Wiki. Simply link to the source here on XS.

Copying might be extreme. I think I might just reword them and give lots of references to the scene.

For using pictures is it required to get the authors permission assuming any watermark/logo is left, a link to the original article, and an authors name is given?

I've been trying to send out PM to the author but I'm worried since some of these articles are old I won't be able to get ahold of them. Checking over the site legalities it doesn't necessarily oppose this, I just don't want to offend anyone.

Unless someone gets the expressed written permission of an author of one of our guides, the entire guide is deemed Xs property in regards to reposting rights etc.

People lifting our guides and doing simple edit's / rewrites will find their accounts closed.

If our guides are a source for anything.. link to them directly.

Xs as an Archive has proven it's ability to keep up and online and maintain the connection to documents. we aren't going anywhere.. so please.. link to our stuff. don't lift or steal it.

Ok...so the tutorials on xbox scene cannot be used in the Wiki for Xbox scene without permission, only links can be given...  unsure.gif  The wiki turns from a source of information to a source of links?    huh.gif

well not really, it really depends on the effort of the people submitting the content. I contacted a few memebers and got their permission to add their stuff to it. Alright fair enough some tutorials are old and some of the members are not available in which case they must be linked.

If kept up to the date the wiki will eventually become a great source but like twisted has stated the internet at large isnt ready for wiki's yet.

That's a good enough answer for me. smile.gif

I'll be careful about what I take. I'll just assume that any content posted on x-s forums, not posted in a tut, is considered co-op with x-s. So I'll be sure to get peoples permission prior to posting any image that they posted on the forum.  I'll leave the tuts be, unless I'm writing a similar article (not lifting) and use it for reference.

I really feel a wiki is a good way to gather information and collect it into one place. Plus the addition of being able to edit them gives users a great way to add their 2 cents and keep the article in good order.

I'd really like to see this go far, but I suppose it's just time and patience. Gotta get the ball rolling, and it's obviously small now...

Wiki-Scene makes its triumphant return... http://wiki-scene.com/wiki/

There are still a few little ods and ends I have left to tie up, let me know if you find anything out of the ordinary and Ill see what I can do to fix it.

(note to self... always use Linux servers  MS=downtime rolleyes.gif )
