Modded Box Acting Odd

The chip should have 2 wires that come off of it that dont hook up in the same places as all the rest if it does not sit on a pinner head if it is in a pinner head these will be the only 2 wires. The "DO & BT" connections for the chip. If the DO is not connected then the chip will never boot if this is not connected you can ground it to test it if grounded it forces the xbox to boot from the modchip. The BT is controlling if you are booting from the tsop or the mod chip. Usually if push eject boot one way or push power on/off and boot from the other any difference between startup when pushing eject or power on will let you know if it is working or not. If it is any of the other wires it will normally frag or not work at all.

Check out this thread it breaks down the install of the chip you can compare how it looks to how yours looks and see if you see a difference.

Thanks for replying and the advice. smile.gif
Being a ver 1.6b, the pinheader had to be connected to the board with wire links. These all appear OK, as does the D0 and BT wires. However I'm beginning to think I may have developed some cold joints. The reason it doesn't FRAG anymore is maybe because my cleaning may have moved a wire slightly which made the connection good (probably only temporary). My problem currently is maybe a cold joint in my D0. Your idea of shorting it out should easily test this.

I had already found the link you gave me, as well as others that detail how to connect up a Duox2 chip on a pinheader.

After testing grounding the D0, I think I have to re-solder all the connections to eliminate cold joints. I haven't been looking forward to doing this, because even though I've been soldering for years, these connections are very, very small. sad.gif

Thanks again.
