Nevermind......found out the answer!

(BTW, the answer is yes, with a modchip you can botch the alternate d0 spot and not have to repair it as long as you can still use the top d0 spot and don't mind not having the stock M$ Dashboard)

You can still have the stock dashboard with a modchip, even the stock bios if you wish.
