Halo 2 Mod/cheat Topics
« on: May 23, 2005, 11:40:00 PM »

I don't know if anyone else has noticed but the halo 2 modding forum has really built up with recent conflicts between modding the game and cheating.  It wouldn't seem that different but tell that to the people in the +200 reply thread titled sad day for halo 2
I'm thinking maybe as a suggestion would it be possible to have seperate sections for cheating and modding?
maybe that would calm some people down a bit.

We won't set up a secondary CHEAT area. Modding and cheating in some circumstance all depends on how a mod is used. If people use it against others without them knowing.. that it could fairly be called cheating. If all in a game are aware and consenting.. than a mod isn't cheating.

I feel the same way about that but in recent topics created, a newbie would ask a simple question, get one post of help (if their lucky) and a hundred flame posts.
Now I'm not sideing with anyone but if someone asks for help but only gets flamed at, they ussually get pretty discouraged about posting a question agan.  The only way we learn is by asking questions.  No matter the subject.

Now on the other hand, some of the members who have been here before seem to be rather protective of free online gaming systems and so forth.  They seem threatened by this and believe that talk of cheating shouldn't be allowed period.  This is where that conflict begins.
All I'm suggesting is that a divsion of some sort would calm down at least some people.  The "older" members wouldn't have as much to complain about, and the newer members (or some older ones for that matter) could have a place to discuss their different form of modding freely.
But this is merely a suggestion, nothing more.

Why not jsut start banning the ppl that are flaming.  Its is clearly ok to discuss modding and cheating.  If this type of flaming was going on in the BST forum a person would get banned.  So please start banning ppl.

I had considered that too but it seems the mods have enough to deal with already as it is.  Thats when I came up with the different/sub forums idea but it looks like that isn't going to happen...  sad.gif
