1. disable search for guests
2. limit the number of searches a user can perform in 1hr or something
3. increase the amount of wait-time between searches (5min?)

i think some or all of these measures would be better than having absolutely no search during certain times. (google just ain't cuttin it)

I just went and turned it back on.

It's manually turned on and off for each day.. but I think it was forgotten and left off.

It's on now.

Enjoy.

T-Shirts are currently the best method to support us.

When/If another option is made available.. XANTIUM.. and only XANTIUM.. will post it.

I might link to it when/if he does.. but you'll note that it will be the same link as his.

(we've avoided other means.. as people have already attempted to collect fund in the name of XS)

In that case, I will go buy one now.

the search is very very useful and necesary and without it, finding recent updates of my posts is impossible.

It's manually turned on and off.

People are human.. and do forget or can't get back to the site to switch it back.

shit happens.

then design the site to switch it on and off automatically?!?? duhhhhhhhh if people can write programs to allow the xbox to do endless new stuff it werent meant to, surely you nerds can do something about the poxy peak hour search function??

its a damn shame about this search thing cos i have learnt alot form these forums. its bloody useful. this site is well structured and informative and i appreciate all that xbox scene do,  its a bloody pitty some can be lazy and wont do anything about it. lets your scene down...

but hey? shit happens right?

Auto on and off is not built in.. and we don't use plugins.. and for reasons I can't detail here.. we will not use hacks.

So.. we are limited by the core software.

A hardware solution is in the works. Further complaints aren't necessarily.. as it won't help it get fixed sooner.
