A New Off Topic Forum Suggestion
« on: January 14, 2004, 04:17:00 PM »

On another huge and popular forum I visit regularly, there is a forum called "Bitch & Moan." It is a forum dedicated to all the flaming of the other members, mods, admis, the site, or the person's problems in general. Why should this be allowed? We have seen in the past many members get out of line and flame the mods/admins over something and then cause the site trouble and later the person who made the offense is banned. We've seen people come home from a bad day at work/school and take out their frustrations on the forums and its members. If we had a "Bitch & Moan" forum (or whatever name chosen), then it would be completely allowed and OK to do, because that is the section for it. At the forum I mentioned, it keeps the people very much under control and from lashing out and then being punished. They simply click on Bitch & Moan, hit new post, unleash their rage, hit submit, and have no worries about what the admins will do when they see it. I think this is a really good idea. With the enormous amount of members and the amount of active mods/admins, not everyone will get along and that of course has been seen true time and time again. Please consider adding this new forum to the Off Topic section.

I'd love it. I've only been here for a day and I've already found about 600 problems that are driving me up the wall.

I don't think so. No need to provoke wars. It will quickly get out of line, and moderators, like LepPper, who designed a very popular Xbox program, does not deserve to be flamed because some lamer was mad he trashed his "How can I download Xbox games?" thread.

Not sure what board allows this, but I imagine it's not as well as controlled by the people here at Xbox-Scene.

There needs to be a non-modded Forum. That would be like the best forum ever. It would almost be like we have the right of free speech.  ohmy.gif

Yes, it's called General. It is pretty free to talk about whatever you like, but of course, no flaming.

Yea but your posts don't even get counted there. That's really silly. Every other forum I have ever been to in my entire life, your posts count in the "general chat" section.

To take a bit from Xeero's mouth....

I like the premise that you really can't complain about it and still maintain your integrity. Go on, try it

They used to count there but people were turning to post races by posting silly and pointless topics just to get a +1 in that number under their name. So, post count there was turned off and it is much better now.

You are just new here, and don't understand what has happened in the past.

Been there, done that. It use to happen at my other message board all the time.

They took care of it by modding it properly. That, and the people eventually got tired of it and things went back to normal.

Nice to hear about your forum. But, understand that Xbox-Scene generates large amounts of traffic everyday, and it can be hard to properly moderate a board with mis-behaving and abusive members who really shouldn't be there in the first place, and the person who can stop a member from posting, is not available. Luckily, with the new forum upgrade coming soon, things can be handled even better

*sigh*
So are you saying that post count actually means something?  Cause if thats all you got going for you, I suggest a new hobby.  Post count means *nothing*.

lol There's over 60,000 members in my other forum. I know all about heavy traffic issues.

And I'm not saying my entire purpose here is to get points, it's just fun to have something to work towards.

Alright, work towards helping others with Xbox problems, and then you will see your "points" increase, and then the smile on your face get bigger and bigger  smile.gif
