New Hd Upgrade - Laggy And Running Slow :s

hii guys i just recently upgraded my HD to a 40GB HD and now when i run games such as mame, pcsx and kawaks, the gameplay is slighly slow and laggy ... like the music sounds slowish

but i dont seem to have problems running xbox games of my HD :S loooks and sound smooth

i never had this problem with my old HD

did i stuff up the installation ? missed out a file :S ?

and im using unleashX + NDURE
