artists take years writing lyrics but time wasnt my point

im on about the ammount it costs to actually make the cd not the work you put into it

thats like saying years and years were put into shenmue so ill pay £40 for it but only a few weeks were put into bust a move its only worth £10

you got to think your points through and not just reply for aguments sake

jse  yes that is true that music stores need money to for overhead but on a whole music has been WAY more profitable then video games .... everyone listens to music , not everyone plays games ..

is that then a reason to pump up game prices

ok lets say you got the best football team in america that everyone goes to now thier tickets are $10 per game

then you got a poor club who only pulls around 100 pll to a game should they charge $40???

no just because one thing isnt as populay as another isnt a reason to charge more

it would get more gamers if they dropped the prices

good point but you name me one company that has spent 5 years on a game

second the programmer arnt just working on one game solid they will work on other projects as well

lets say they only on two projects half the wage for that £20.000 per year (alot are on more that two projects)

doubtfull that games have 100 programmers on them their is usually about 4 then theirs testers sounds graphics which are all a lot lower wages than programers

e.g splinter cell here is the full programmers list

Lead Programmer Shen Li
Programmers Yao Bin, Lin Nan, Li Sheng Yong, Zou Nan Hai, Shi Xiao Ming, Qi Ze Yu, Wei Xiang, Jane Zhang, Shen Nan, Liu Xiao, Shan Liang

only 12 programmers  oh and japanease programmers arnt on $40.000 a year its a lot lot less

funny that aint it nearley all game programmers are japanease

wonder why (because their chaper and do a much better job)

like my earlier comment levis and most other sports shops have kids working for 10 cents an hour instead of paying mimumum wage for americans

i said before and i'll say it again

The bottom line is money nobody gives a FUCK

I agree that's it's all marketing .
We are forced to pay a price that is deemed to be an acceptable rip-off point

Next not all games are quality : you go to the super market and buy some apples : when you get home you notice (after a few bites) that the inside is rotten . Can you return it ? Sometimes yes but then the apple has been half eaten allready. Why do we have to pay the same price for a game that takes years to develop as we do for a game that is pathetic and rushed (dark angel ?). I'm not talking about the 10% difference the pathetic game's price drops to. When you look at the boxart you think "cool" but then you get home and want to kill the guy who sold the game to you .

This is the same problems with artists who sell a web design to a customer then when the buyer decides to use the same design for a news paper add , the artist sues . When you sell somthing shouldn't you also sell that pruduct completly . Unlike M$ that says "you can pay and buy our product but you can't touch it 'cause it's ours .

That's just crap : look at counterstrike ! It's not an original ! It's a mod . The programers took their game copies and changed the code into something awsome . If that was M$ who owned Half Life the counterstrike team would all be in jail (sued) .

All I beleive I'm doing with my xbox is improving the original concept : things the developers should have done from the start : IGN , huge Hdd , copy game to Hdd ...
How many of us own xbox purely because we can mod it ? Nearly all of us .
So M$ should embrace us ! Don't reject the xbox's most loyal fans ! We are out there spreading the word about the xbox and it's awsome possibilities , and we have all bought a few xbox's , heaps of controlers and a couple of original games . What more could M$ want ? If everyone bought an xbox and extra controlers and 2 games : then M$ would be even richer .
