The reason to not discuss piracy on this board has little to nothing to do with morals or whats right or wrong, it has to do with this board staying online, this board would be shut down immediatly if exact details were given on how to obtain 'pirated' material, never mind giving direct links to it.

Edit: I re-read this and realized something, I don't run this site smile.gif This is just mearly speculation, so consider the above a guess at to why piracy talk is forboaden.

I think there are bigger problems in the world than piracy but you must understand that the companies that produce these games need to make a living too and they are not very fond of people making illegal copies of their works.  You must also understand that the law(and the people that enforce it) do not care if you plead in court that there are "cokeheads" out there and piracy is not a problem because you will still take a giant stick in your ass and pay a rather larger fine if you are lucky.

Just my .02 cents.

You know, i must admit i kind of agree with you. I dont care what anyone says, theyve all got ripped games stored on their HDDs or burnt to DVD. Everyone just plays dumb or acts like they dont have any.

Why else would you chip your xbox, and please, its not to you can play original imported dvds and game, or use your xbox as a media centre  wink.gif  Its simply to save yourself some cash on buying the original. But if you pirate games you do so at your own risk, as it says somewhere on the X-S website, they neither condone or promote piracy, theyre remaining neutral on it, but would prefer you not to talk about it as they dont really wonna get themselves in shit, which is perfectly understandable.

We really dont wonna see this place getting closed down for promoting illegal stuff or allowing it to be spoken about, it could be seen as promoting it, thats why they dont like it being spoken of. Just remember this is proberbly one of, if not the best info site on the web, we dont really wonna lose it now do we?!

same reason we don't tolerate p0rn : the server freaks out and shuts the site down "no questions asked" .
One minute you're posting the latests method , next thing you know you see this :"this site has been closed due to copyright concerns."
Trust me I've seen it happen too many times.
Or maybe you are just lazy and would like to have all-knowledge about xbox with just one click ? Sorry but where is the fun in that. I have spent more time learning stuff about xbox then on any game (yeah I'm slow) . So you could say that modding (and co) is the best game I've ever played ! And it just keeps getting better with every new homebrew and method.
It's not about piracy (for profit) or any gain but purely to enjoy what I paid for (sory m$ but that xbox is mine now and I can do what I want with it) .

IRC and newsgroups are filled with rips, why m$ hasnt done any thing to this site is because we only distribute information and nothing illegal goes on here.

belive me they got us under a microscope and the second we do anything illegal this site will come down. this is the biggest information site on modding an xbox on the web today;and i for one would rather have the information over a bunch of games i can find allready on the net or other places.

i support this site 110% in their rules and procedures and it would be a terrible thing to see the end of this flow of information be cause of users getting greedy.

thats a nice idea why dont you open your own site and we will all go there.

I am starting my site up tonight.... Ill try to be "DISCREATE" so I dont get the site brought down or anything but you guys can all use it reguardless of what you have to say about me because thats what I believe in.........
