well the reason i took great affence to feck was he had the ordacity and ignorance to lecture us  on a subject he knows little about on how  we were morally and economicly wrong .when he had a avatar online id of bin laden posing the man resposible for the biggest act of terrorism the world has ever seen.this was hipocritical  and a blatent attemp to upset our entire online community.this the last i will say on the subject as this makes me mad that he would find such a thing aceptable .

No? ok then, lets say that mail box modding becomes very popular for the street, a lot of people are buying the cheaper small hinge mailbox and upgrading it themselves. Then mailman Xantium decides to make a website Mailbox-Scene and post good tutorials on how to mod your mail box.

Sure we are voiding our warranty on the mailbox, doing things that aren’t manufacture recommended. but with common sense and great DIY tutorials, we do it well (and I will quote opjose)

I would add some exploding armour (reactive armour, like they use on some tanks (Although I havent seen it on any of the american tanks).

Whack it hard enuff and boommm!!  shrapnel explodes outward leaving the mailbox unharmed.

I like one guy's idea on the 'forums': get a big plastic mailbox, and put a small, metal one inside of it. Fill the void with cement. Then, set the mailbox into the ground with a 4x6 by about four feet with solid cement. Yeah, looks harmless, but hit it with a bat and *crack*, splinters of wood and some broken bones!

Firstly, because we can. Modding is enjoyable.

I know it doesn't happen with users on this forum, but a lot of people mod xboxs so they can play copied games downloaded from the Internet. Yes this is illegal, but it does happen. This allows people to buy a mod chip and a few CDRWs/DVDRs and get lots of games virtually free. This is a big insentive and was one of the reasons people used to get their PSXs chipped.

With users on this forums, it's handy to backup your games. A lot of people scratch thier disks and need to fork out $40+ for another copy. Yes, they should have taken better care of it. But a one off mod chip and DVDR makes this problem better.

The main reason I modded my Xbox was for the HDD. WIth a large HDD inside you can get better loading times and don't need to carry lots of games with you when you see mates. Also for large gaming sessions IGR means you don;t need to leave your seat.

Emulators, it isn't practical to have a NES / SNES / SMS / Genesis / a bunch of Arcade cabinets and loads of games in your front room. Get an xbox - mod it, then add emulators so you can have all of the games ready to go. Surely that's worth $40 for the chip alone!

DivX Movies - in my house the PC isn't in a practical place to watch films on. Let's say I have 5 mates around to watch a film (which happens often). Sitting on chairs in an office would be uncomfortable. Better to sit in the liunge with my widescreen TV and xbox having a few beers on the settee. As the xbox is on my LAN I only need one cable to my PC. Simply upload the films before teh evening, and I'm ready to go.

Yes, it's a gamble soldering a chip in, but it's not hard and, in my opinion, it's worth the $200 gamble to get all of these features (and more). Or you could get a modder such as myself to put it in then you have no risk.

All you've lost is the warranty, but that's not the end of the world. I've never returned a console under warranty anyway.

If this bothers people, buy a cheap xbox second hand or wait for the warranty to expire before modding

Unless you tweak the POT on the DVDRom (which I wouldn;t recommend) this should not happen. Especially if you use a HDD. Just get a HDD that doesn;t have heating issues and voila - no adverse effects.

You can watch movies and play MP3s on your PC yes, but not always practical

2. One hell of a challenge - people do it for fun, as a hobby (why build a model airplane when they are available pre-made and would look much better - because people find it fun making them)

Most people do use it for games, and even those with larger HDD usualy allocate all the disk space on E for game saves and music.

Hoep this clarifies things mate. When you can appreciate why we mod Xboxs, then you'll stop posting things like you have been. Then people wont get p*ssed off, then we're all happy.

Personaly I think you know all of this already. If you're a member and reader of these forums you must have some knowledge about xboxs - and must know why we do it. It's not a hard concept to grasp
