This board is a superb achievement - lets keep it growing instead of adopting an abusive stance to newbis.  This site was built to help people, not to showcase the talents of some of the senior members, and some of the egotistical administration of late is causing a lot of dissent and hard feelings.

No community will thrive if it includes censorship or abusive and dictatorial administration, and this board is no exception.  

This site is successful not because of moderators like Cheerio, but despite him, due to the real community feeling and the willingness of most members to learn, and to help others.

Just because some of the senior members have achieved what others are trying to achieve, it really does not mean that they are better than any newbi.  Some guy with one post may be a 40-year old electrical engineer with machine-code skills and any movement that seeks to censor such a person is foolish, short-sighted and self destructive.

Lets keep the personal comments (such as Punk-Ass's" [arf!]) down and strive to help others and help this site grow.

oh, please.... this site would suck wihout the occasional bashing, and it's fun!  I don't want this site to become a library, so continue bashing those damn newbies, we all got it at one point so y not take it out on them?

Sorry - I don't subscribe to the theory that rank has privileges.   I have to admit i am something of an idealist.  I actually think it is disgusting when knowledge is used as a means to feeling superior to another.  I don't think that anyone who comes to this board is in any way a "Punk Ass" (to quote one or less esteemed moderators) or has any less an ability than I do, or anyone else, newbis come here to gain knowledge and just because they don’t have it, does not mean we can be demeaning towards them.

Everyone who comes here does so to learn.  This site is here to help those that want to learn.  I would hate to think that this site is becoming a inbred elite love fest of experienced members, what good is that to anyone?  Experienced members can all sit around and talk about what they already know.  Great.  

BTW - Moderators are just administrators.  Pencil pushers, not “knowledge commandants”  The people here who help others the most are not moderators.  Those among us who have psychological challenges see being a moderator as a source of power (locking posts etc) without realising that they make themselves petty and disliked.   .

Down with bashing I say.  Let’s be inclusive.

Belive me when i say you dont want to start making it a family friendly site, look at what happend to tolkien online, i went to that sight from the beging back almost 3 years ago, and you could do or say what ever you want, now if you even mention a word that they dont like even fizzy in place of fuck and they boot ya.........its just sad really..........just sad.

Well - I have not been serious about anything since I was 5 - I am the poster-child for irreverance.

I have to admit though.  I was sure that Cheerio would take the bate.  All those immature "punk asse's" comments and such.  I was sure he would take the bait and fly off the handle.

To his credit he did not, and so I am left hanging.  I know when I am beat.   I was just trying to have a laugh.
