Backed Up Games Then Lost Xbmc And Unleashx.

Presumably you bought these games, yes?

Anyway, your F partition probably wasn't formatted properly. More then 256gb on a badly formatted partition = data wipeage.

How is the console modded?

At this point, it doesn't really matter if you wipe some stuff off the partition. Attempting to add any more to it could trigger further deletions, until such time as you format it properly.

I could be wrong about that, but if you experiment you could stand to find out the hard way.  wink.gif

Note that this only applies to the suspect partition. You don't need to worry about the others.

You could just FTP/SMB everything left to the 750gb model, do the format, then transfer it back again. Sure, it might take a couple of nights, but at least you won't need to sit there swapping discs every quarter hour or so.

XBPartitioner needs to be used to format the large partition. The BIOS in your modchip will need to support it's custom partitions - the latest X2/X3/EvoX BIOS types should be fine, though earlier versions won't work.

Usually this happens because someone doesn't know what they're doing. What works for smaller drives doesn't work for larger drives. For every guide out there that mentions this particular issue, there's another dozen that don't - back in the day people just didn't have 250gb+ HDDs.

But anyway, if you're unsure, you can confirm things this way: Run the EvoX dash (from anywhere other then F). If you have a Slayers disc, you can just boot the console off that (as it boots to EvoX).

Note the current free space it records for your suspect partition. Copy a single file there, 10kb or smaller, and check the change in free space. Divide that figure by 1024 and you have the cluster size in kilobytes. For a partition between 256gb to 512gb in size, that should be 32kb; if it's 16kb, then you know it needs to be reformatted.

I recommend just trying the format, then checking that the cluster size was set correctly via the EvoX test. If XBPartitioner throws up errors, then you know straight away that your BIOS isn't up to scratch (regardless of what that BIOS may currently be).

XBP might not format the partition unless you tell it to use a different size then before. You may need to do two formats, one at a slightly lower capacity, and one at full capacity, to make sure it does the job. Check the cluster size afterwards using EvoX to make sure it did the job right.

See that 337gb partition? Format that.

Format it to be under 337gb, then to 337gb again to make sure?

Yup, sounds good.

What of this 120gb partition? Should I change the start/size blocks?

No - Leave that one alone.

Unless you just want to have one big F partition, in which case you can reduce G (that 120gb one) to 0, then pump F (the current 337gb one) up to the full amount. Up to you, but messing with G will of course wipe it's contents as well, so there's a bit more backing up involved.

Sorry, why would you be wanting to leave 10gb on G?

Or if you meant to type just 0gb, consider that the same as killing it.

I don't know, do you have to leave it there or are you allowed to destroy it - this xbox isn't fully mine so I don't wanna break to further, but I'll format the F drive no problem. I'll go press some buttons and tell you how I go smile.gif
