Xbox Hdd Is Dead How To Rebuild?

Hi i really hope some one can help i have a xbox that the hdd had failed so am trying to fit a new hdd but all the tutorials i see say copy the c and e drive from your old hdd but its dead  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)  so how can i setup a new hdd with out any backups  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)

The xbox is chipped not sure what one it is? it has a blue light with 3 switches on it and the silicon board is red.
when you turn the xbox on you get a blue x or the standard green x depending on what switches are on.

trying it with a 80gb western digital hdd

when it boots it gives error 16



please any help would be amazing.

download and burn to a dvd-r "auto installer deluxe", thats about all i use anymore. it should see a blank drive and ask you if you want to format it. sounds like you might have an X3 chip

Does it give error 16 with both the new and the old drives?

I have been trying to use Slayers Evox Auto-Installer 2.7 but it does not seem to boot off it maybe its not a good dvd some times it looks like its tried to boot and can only read 1/2 the error screen

I think it was giving that same error but am not sure i dont have the old hdd any more it was wasted making clicking noises

Am not sure if the disk i have will work or should i be better getting auto installer deluxe? or try other makes of dvd-r
