I have to replace the blu-ray player in my ps3-nonslim. does it matter what model i get. if not. what one is the newest model.

theres different models of drives. Get a newer drive if possible. If you have an older ps3 you will need to get one with the wide ribbon cable. Best drive to get is the one with the main drive board actually inside the case not outside. The ones with the board on the outside are first generation drives and had a higher failure rate than the newer generation ones.

If your ps3 is newer with the smaller ribbon cable then you will need to make sure you get a drive that has the small ribbon cable. Most of the ones i saw on ebay were the original ps3s (60gb and 40gb ones) so make sure its not that.

If you cant find one you might aswell send it off to get fixed.

I used to work in a ps3 repair place which had the contract for repairing consoles in europe.
