Blu-ray Laser And Spindle At The Same Time?

What are the chances that the laser and the spindle motor would die at the same time?  I don't believe it's the control board as everything else in the drive seems to work except those two.  (Ie. laser tries to focus, the drive detects discs, etc.)   Is there anywhere that I could find schematics of at least the pins to try testing?

If the laser is completely bad then the drive will not detect the disc and will never spin up.
