Hello all,
I recently bought a broken ps3 that was supposed to just have a HD problem.
After fixing and aligning the pins to the HD, it boots up.
After that, I found that it wouldn't read games so I bought a new deck/lens combo.
I know it works because I tested it in another 40gb and it reads games without any problems.
Anyway on the broken console, it will take the disc in, but I don't see the loading icon on the upper corner of the screen. Also when I try to play a demo, it goes blank and freezes. I have to manually turn the PS3 off from the switch in the back.
I read somewhere it might be the graphics chip, but can't seem to find it again. I don't even remember what forum it was at.
Could it also be the BD7956FS chip? I have a spare one, but don't want to try to install it if it's indeed the graphics chip.
If it's the graphics chip, does that mean that the mobo is unrepairable?
Thanks!
