I have a newer PS3 40gb (I say newer because it has the goofy harddrive caddy that slides straight in, vs the one that you put in and slide. Also has the newer plastic all black power supply) Ok so here is the run down on it. When you push the power button you get a green light for a second, then you can hear an audible click sound (i think from the PS (powersupply)) then it will display the red/green light and turn off, and flash a red light for a few times....
Here is what i have tried:
Removed EVERYTHING including the mobo shield and tried to power up with just the PS and mobo, still same issue.
Tried a different PS from a known good PS3 (same model, same black PS), Still same issue.
I looked over the mobo to see any obvious signs of shorting
My assumption:
I think there is something on the motherboard that is shorting out causing the PS to go into some sort of protect mode, which is what the audible click would be, but I'm not 100% sure.
Anyone have any tips or suggestions, or even came across a similar issue?
