Hey ho all.

I've been asked by a chap at work to look at his Xbox for him, word has gone around that im the resident Xbox geek hehe

It's what seems to be a 2002 1.0 and has an Xecuter 2.6 chip installed (Wired). At some point, somehow, the bank switch has been disconnected and lost so when it's turned on it FRAG's.

I used my own bank switch to test it and when the bank switch is connected the Xbox powers ok and the X 2.6 LED lights up. Unfortunately thats all i can get from the old thing.

The Eject LED shows a solid green, solid red in a loop.

I tried to boot it to my AID and Slayers CD's but still no joy.

Any suggestions chaps.........

Cheers

So... It FRAGs regardless of whether the bank switch is attached?

Does the console seem to shut itself down/restart a few times after you first push the power button?

The Xbox FRAG's when the switch is detached. The guy has lost his switch somehow so thats how i received it. The Xbox was working fine but since he lost the switch from the X 2.6 it's been fragging. I would have expected this as the X 2.6 needs the switch to work.

I attached my own X 2.6 switch from one of my Xbox's to test it, when i use my switch it powers up and shows the 'Solid Green - Solid Red' Eject LED in a loop. This 'Red Green' flashing is not the same as a FRAG flash, it's slower, it stays on green for quite a while then goes to solid red for a while then back to green. If i get time tonight i'll take a video of it and post it on YouTube for you to have a look at. It shows nothing at all on screen. No Xbox logo etc.

Last night i swapped the hard drive for my own and i can confirm that the hard drive is ok, boots perfrctly to the dashboard, i sat for a few minutes and had a browse around the hard drive, all seems ok on that front. He's been running Exo X.

Have to go now, need to get to work :-)

I would disconnect the D0 wire from the chip and disable it that way.
If it boots into an error screen and gives you video, you know your problem is related to the modchip.

Maybe there is a problem with the bios in the chip.

regards.
