I highly doubt they are doing that... That method seems way too cheap/pathetic for Sony or Konami to do, trust me... thats not it

this was done in nearly all the ps3 launch titles, including Resistance.

if the game isnt at least 40-50+ hours of playable game then theres no justification for it needing that much space.

it's not like the graphics are phenomenal, weve all seen the gameplay video, alot of the textures (which is what takes up the majority of space in 3d) are crappy.

Perhaps all their sound is encoded in .WAV.

BD SL discs are 25GB.
BD DL discs are 50GB.

I believe compression is one of the last things to be implemented, so of course the game will be larger before it's compiled. There's probably material that's not final and has multiple versions adding size as well.
