Advanced Blu-ray Questions
« on: February 02, 2020, 09:34:00 PM »

I don't know if many, or if any, of you will know the answer to this question or have any clue what I am talking about:

I have had a 360 since January of the following release year, and next week I plan to buy a PS3. While I will play some games on the PS3, my main purpose for buying it is to play Bluray. Does anyone know which advanced features the PS3 supports?

Technologies most curious about:

x.v.Color - 6 color
HDMI v1.3a
120Hz
TrueHD

If you happen to know, or have other questions, feel free to post.

I think I found the answers I was looking for after a lot of searching on the PS3 official site. The PS3 does support x.v.Color (That automatically qualifies HDMI v1.3 if I understand this technology as well as I think I do). I saw no mention of TrueHD, but I did see something that said it didn't fully support 7.1. I never saw anything about 120hz.

Yes the PS3 is HDMI 1.3, the 360 still is not 1.3.
I don't think you will find anything on the 120Hz question.
On the top of the PS3 it has a Logo for the main headlines of the units support and it does show Dolby TrueHD logo, I would think that with the DIVX certification that was recently applied to the console we will eventually see the DIVX certified logo appear here too.
