The console won't do a thing without the AV cable attached (unless you're running 4976 or up, which you're not).

The clock check skip was introduced with 4979.

Ok, so you had the drive contents backed up. That's good. But, did that backup include the EEPROM data?

yup, i got the eeprom and the hdd lock code backed up. I finally managed to fix the problem using XBOXHDM to recover the C drive with the backup from original XBOX HDD, set the clock; then use AID to reinstall EvoX.

I have been out of touch with the scene for a couple of years. Which 256k BIOS is good to use now with the clock check fix?

Now I gotta try to find a component AV cable to use with my new TV (without the scart input)...

iND-BIOS.5003, X2.4981, Evox M8plus. They're in order of my personal preference, but all three seem to work well, and you can enable "reset on eject" on the first two.

Thanks a lot!! I just flashed it with X2 4981 and everything is ok so far. I guess some files in the C partition got corrupted before; coz I was able to get the C directory listing thru XBOXHDM when I unlocked it today before I went to recover the C drive.
