What's All This Power Cable Malarkey Then ?
« on: February 03, 2020, 02:55:00 PM »

Ladies and Gentlemen.

So, one of my Xbox's came complete with the trip switch power supply. I have read a few papers about it's introduction but have yet to find a definitive answer to my own personal questions:

Is it best practise to use the trip switch power supply over the 'Straight Through' power supply?

Does the trip switch power supply clean the power in any way?

Kindest Regards

no, it just provides a GFI (ground fault interrupt)

in case something on the power supply shorts out (this was an issue with the foxlink PSUs) it would cut power before it started a fire

its essentially the same as this type of outlet:

as far as using it, its probably better since it provide some fire protection, but redundant if you have the type of outlet pictured above or GFCI circuit breakers in your house
